  1. Small rubber band spreader?
  2. There are a couple different types!
  3. Ed, I thought it would take awhile for someone to pick up on that! You are sharp!!! AAA+++
  4. What are these items?
  5. Screw starter...Holder....
  6. I have a 1946 Chrysler NewYorker 8 cylinder business coupe with a stromberg 2 BBL on it. Chrysler used 2 barrel Strombergs up through early 1947 then went back to the carter 1bbl carbs till 1950-end of the Chrysler straight "8".
  7. Ed, I sold you that manifold and carb at least 3 years ago and you still don't have it running on an engine! You and Reg better get your heads together and figure that linkage issue out! You will get at least 5 more HP:rolleyes: Bob
  8. Kinda sounds like a ring/ring land let go and is on top of the piston banging against the head-sounds too fast for a valve train noise.
  9. When I drive my wooden car I do so with a special made sun visor made of wood!
  10. Boy, what a steal! Another great ebay buy!
  11. It's a Carter E7A1 1946-8 Chrysler straight 8 carb. Same as a 6 cylinder carb pretty much. 1949-50 Desoto and Chrysler are similar too. All my cars use this style carb.
  12. Your special request has been granted! The spring is a special wound spring too. Bob
  13. 1946-8 Dodge/DeSoto and Chrysler electric wiper motors are all the same. Also this same electric motor is used in some 1948-50 Dodge trucks as an optional motor. Linkage of course is completely different.
  14. Thats exactly right Greg-just like the more modern cars with carbs-pump the throttle a couple times and the choke snaps shut, then upon start up vacuum pulls the choke plate open about 1/4" and then heat is drawn up through the heat tube into the choke housing to slowly unwind the choke coil spring-choke plate is wide open till the engine cools down.
  15. The choke and Carter carb (E9A1) is typical of a 1951-3 Chrysler 6 cylinder with the "Presto-Matic" transmission. This carb needs an exhaust manifold with the integral heat tube going through it to supply heat to relax the thermostatic spring in the choke plate housing - this causes the choke plate to unwind and open up. The engine model# C51-... means the engine is a 1951 Windsor 6 cyl. engine-carb is probably the original to the engine. Bob
  16. Go get that big bad boy 413 Gene! Better measure the stroke though. Bob
  17. It's supposedly 1955 Ply 259 and Dodge 270 according to the MoTor's labor and parts book.
  18. Tell me where it is-pretty please!
  19. On another front, I bought a big (30") truck motor recently. I was concerned that if I had to go through it I'd never find bearings for it. He told me if I tear it down to take real good care of the inserts, they can send them off, have them re-coated with babbitt, then line bore it and salvage everything. I had no idea you could do this. I have found out these big 7 main engines use heavier duty bearings. They are copper-alloy lined with a lead-tin overplate. They are not babbit lined as on the regular flathead 230/251 or 265 engines. Will the soft babbit hold up if you push it? Thats what has held me up on doing one of these engines. I have driven these big blocks a lot and you do need to push them on the hills even with a 2 speed rear end. I'd hate to hear a knock after a quality rebuild. All I have been able to find is babbit overlays being done. Finding any engine parts is really tough. Most all the parts need to be special made=$$$. Egge/ Terrill machine ect. Pistons and ring groove spacing is an issue too. The OE pistons are a H-duty steel strut design piston. Custom forged pistons are the only way to go being a custom order. I have found over the years MoPar rings/gaskets/ 1 piston and rods and mains for the 377 and smaller engines but no parts for the 413 which uses bigger rod bearings and pistons and has the hydraulic camshaft. Bob
  20. If you want the factory look- You will need 2 proper sized rubber O-Rings to fit in the 2 machined circular grooves in the block. They will seal the inlet and outlet oil passages to the aluminum filter housing. You need to find a oil filter housing off any 1949-54 Chrysler 6 cylinder 251 to 265 engine or any that look like the picture. Use (2) 3/8" X 1-1/2" SAE bolts and 2 lock washers to bolt it on.
  21. SKF/CR#18880 are the ones I use for the smaller PLY/Dodge/ Des and Chrysler 6 cylinder rear end pinion yokes.
  22. Here is a picture of a car I just finished up for a customer and I didn't even check what the tires were-size type ect!
  23. That "Vomit" plastic as it was called in the day is really awesome looking. There were assorted colors and Chrysler advertised it by making candy bowls out of i as promo items. I have collected a bit of it over the years. That is a nice car!
  24. The travelers came with a 250 Ci. six only.
  25. This upgrade would be good on mileage too.
