  1. You cannot remove the fan bolts when pulling the fan and aluminum spacer off. Leave the loosened bolts in the fan and spacer....then remove the fan and spacer with the four bolts as a unit carefully from out of the loose shroud. The lift out the rad and shroud.
  2. The water pump stays on the engine with the fan and 1" spacer removed. The radiator and shroud loosely together are carefully lowered down into place just clearing the water pump hub. At that point I installed two 1" 3/8" X 24 studs/ nuts temporarily in the middle radiator mount holes to support the radiator from dropping down. Lean/ move the loose shroud towards the engine at the top so you can install the fan, spacer and the four long bolts already installed thru fan and spacer. Lower the assembled fan down to the water pump and start the bolts into the water pump hub. Tighten the fan. Finish installing the shroud and radiator to the core support. Install the hoses and hood. It's tedious .....just be glad you don't have air brakes...then the air compressor has to be removed just to give room to move the shroud back for the fan installation!
  3. Another big radiator to pull out...very involved job..
  4. Boy that was a big hurdle for such a small item to get replaced... They even painted them! What's the next step?
  5. .030" gap on the points?... .020" is better. Oil free of course. Use contact cleaner.
  6. I have never had to ream outnthe supports or truck axle I- beams when doing king pins. The MoPar,TRW, Moog USA king pin sets just required the bushings to be sized...NOT the knuckle support or truck I-beam. The kits being sold today are sized wrong but will work with additional machine work. The pins need to be a tight interference fit in the knuckle support as mentioned. Glad I only use old stock non import goofy sized parts.?
  7. You can buy the correct carb kit same as you get elsewhere.... It's the Carter B&B carb kit from O'Reilly's or RockAuto etc for $45.00 or less. I recently bought two kits from O'Reilly's for $78.67 incl. Tax That's where I buy them. Walker #15021B
  8. Eight cylinder cars, long wheel base 8 passenger and station wagon six cylinder cars except Plymouth use 10 bolt carriers through 1952. 8-3/4" ring and pinion.
  9. The 1953 Dodge six cylinder car would use 16 spline axle shafts in a 11 bolt carrier. 1952 and back cars use 10 splIne axle shafts excepth for Crown Imperial Chryslers.
  10. That is a Carter Carburetor Parts and Service book. This one covers from 1933 to 1953. Most all cars and trucks.
  11. I have removed lots of those C39 huge odd shaped "8" cylinder radiators. Yes you got the hidden lower bolts out...do the rest up the sides of the radiator yoke plus remove the two lower hood supports bolts-fold back out of the way. Support the hood with some other type of rod. You also need to remove the factory fan shroud and fan. Use a sheet of card board to protect the core from water pump hub contact damage. These radiators are heavy. I remove/install them using my engine hoist.
  12. Modern sealed bearing non-greaseable water pump.
