  1. Back transition but there is a good panel crease for a transition. These cars look better 2 tone in my opinion. Kind of lowers the roof a little. Adam Edit: Initially I left the window surrounds dark but it made the roof look tall. Kind of like a green car with a white top hat. Reminded me of a VW Bug.
  2. There is also no good cut line on the cowl. I had to improvise. A contrasting pin stripe made the transition better only picture of the area I have. Zoom to see it. Did a similar stripe below the rear window. Adam
  3. Never really gave this much thought before, can a later Bendix backing plate and brakes be adapted? Probably wouldn’t be noticed by the inspection police and much easier to deal with than the Lockheed brakes.
  4. Change of plans on the wheels
  5. That sucks... We have some states here in the US that are similar. Glad I don't live in one... I guess it's time to pull out a stack of money and get the Miller tool so they can be adjusted correctly
  6. Exactly why it's just better in the long run to upgrade to discs. I went through the exact scenario and discs are cheaper than buying the adjusting tool, much better too. I have no power assist on my 49, stock master cylinder with the check valve removed, no residual pressure valves and it has been great for years, easy pedal
  7. Are you sure small GM calipers (metric as we call them) aren’t available over there? Almost all midsize GM cars used them in the 80’s-90’s. if you want it to stop better, I’d go with front disc brakes before I sunk a dime into the drums, been there done that! Only other mod needed after the swap is to remove the check valve from the stock master and you’re good to go... Adam
  8. In California, 450.00 might get the material and possibly part of the labor. That is if you bring them in already cleaned and blasted. At 175.00-200.00/hr, the price moves quickly. Adam
  9. Now all that's left is to paint the rims and install new tires. Going to put 235/60/15 tires in the rear to offset the tall 3.0 rear gears. Currently has 235/75/15 rear tires, the smaller tires should put me at 2800 rpm @ 70mph. I think I will paint the wheels Almond with an orange/red pinstripe. Adam
  10. So I found smaller diameter air filters (sorry forgot to take a picture) from WIX. They have a nice application by dimension chart on their website. Below is a picture of me trimming the base down for the smaller filters. I am still confused as to why they caused a restriction when so many others use them without issue, but it runs much better now with no difference in performance with or without air filters.
  11. If at all possible, clean and reuse your points. New points are mostly overseas garbage. Adam
  12. I cannot see how a tiny 1/32 hole would do anything to minimize build up. I think the author is full of it.
  13. Once the air is bled out of the system, you should not be getting any air pockets unless there is something wrong. When filling, I hold the valve open with a couple of aspirin while filling and burping. Aspirin dissolves and system works as designed. Adam
  14. Look at the slat six distributor mod and leave the Pertronics out. Those Mopar distributor pick ups are super reliable, lots of stranded stories with Pertronics. Couple that with a hidden HEI module and your good to go with a better ignition system at 1/2 the price. Plus parts are anywhere if it does have trouble. Adam
  15. Precise syncing is a must with individual, separate runners. With a common plenum you don’t have to be as precise and is much more forgiving. Multiple carbs tuned and set correctly on these straight sixes give a “street” driven car improved driveability as well as a little bit more power but it will never be a race car.
  16. I would put them on a common plenum. Especially for the street. Adam
  17. Try it without the valves first. I ended up not needing any after I pulled the internal one.
  18. I was referring to the new parts you listed a few posts back. That said, yes on everything you listed above except the starter, it doesn’t care. I’ve been running my 6v starter for 10 years on 12v with no issues, the clock too. I also ran the same condenser for 5 years before I did the slant 6 distributor mod with no issues, coil too. I just added a ballast resistor.
  19. The only loss would be the battery.
  20. Sorry Tim, I deleted my post because I didn't want to come off as a smart a__. I don't think Lucas made any electrical component that wasn't garbage. I've rewired lots of Jags.
  21. Gas gauge doesn't care about polarity.
  22. FWIW, I have changed every old car I've ever owned to 12v NEG ground. The manufactures wised up and did it in the 50's, I can use off the shelf components, Battery cables are easy to find, it starts easily cold or hot, Headlights are bright even if you have a crappy connection. I don't see a down side, unless you're going for a concourse queen.
  23. Be careful using Lacquer over any Enamel paint. I would spray a Urethane clear over it. Adam
  24. I pulled mine out of the stock master cylinder because of front disc brake drag. Didn't affect the 8" Ford rear drum brakes at all. Always a good firm pedal. Did it on the car, took about 20 minutes including bleeding the air out. Adam
  25. It happens with these old thin wheels. I heard once radial tires go on, the flexing gets worse. My 49 wheels did this 6 months after radial tires went on. It was only paint but it shows the flexing, newer wheels were much thicker....
