  1. Good info........thanks..........
  2. Sometimes a lock is needed to keep idiots from sitting in your vehicle at a show or event.
  3. In this auction........D24 coupe 40, or thereabouts, Plym One P15 coupe Two door sedan P15 An exceptionally nice looking P15 four door Another P15 coupe
  4. Around 150 cars, most various brands of Chrysler products........all will go as owner is moving. Most are pretty complete and weather worn. Link to a site that will ultimately get you to VanDerBrink Auction Co web page.....then click on "pictures". Saw at least 3 P15s..........with one fourdoor looking exceptionally good. http://www.auctionzip.com/Listings/2170539.html
  5. I finally used my original shocks on the front after installing the Ford arms. Tried two other numbers, but they were too long. I would say my fronts could probably stand to be about one inch longer, but the current ones seem to be working OK.
  6. Can you buy the cork material at a parts store? There's a round, cork gasket between the oil bath air filter and carb on a P15.
  7. Don.........I always knew Lisa was an "allright, ol Mopar" girl. Mary Ann did spot the Mopar sign for me at the Lobby.....so she also gets brownie points.
  8. How do dey do dat????..........light up those tires? Or, is it "tyres"?
  9. The good news is......you did not hit any of those turkeys with your car.
  10. I would guess the bumpers were painted because they probably needed to be re-chromed due to age and wear. It cost me about $300 a few years ago to have my rear bumper redone........and about $400 earlier this year to have the front re-chromed. That does not include the guards as I have all n o s ones. So, the expense to do all is probably why some folks paint the bumpers. I agree that all the stainless trim could be re-installed for a more original look. Oh.....did you notice that there are no door handles or locks?????
  11. I just noticed the gas filler door on the rear fender. Also the license plate has been frenched into the trunk lid. Some more "kustom" touches.
  12. This is on eBay currently - and at first glance I thought "why does this one look different"? Well......they have removed the stainless trim from the front fenders and sides.....but left the rest. Plus, it's two toned. And, the bumpers painted. Not the worst look I've ever seen, but not the best either. Oh......says it has a Mopar V8 with automatic, tilt column and bucket seats...... I personally prefer the side trim to be in place. Just posting for your viewing pleasure (or displeasure).
  13. They may, or may not, have that sign in stock at all times. Was the first time I had seen it and I've looked at their signs many times over the years. I found mine up in Kansas City.......not here in Joplin.
  14. Nice trailer Fred. And.....I like the 1959 Dodge wheel cover on the spare tire.
  15. Was in a Hobby Lobby store a few days ago and found a metal sign I hadn't seen before. Most of their signs are about Chevy or Ford, with the occasional other brands thrown in. This sign normally retails for $24.99.......but they run them on half price sale several times a year. So we got this one on sale. It's about 18 inches long by 9 inches tall and is metal. I have a few other old timey Mopar metal signs......but had not seen this one before. Just posting in case anyone would like another sign.
  16. My free advice to Mr. Southbound is: you may not be a computer whiz, but you probably should spend some time experimenting with finding information about your old car on the internet. There is a ton of interesting stuff out there. I'm no genius, so if I can do it.....you can too. Otherwise, welcome to the forum and good luck with your Dodge. I found this info by using Google and typing in "how many 1950 dodge wayfarer convertibles were made".........and the answer contained in a How Stuff Works article was: With 1950 model-year production of approximately 75,000, Wayfarer appeal was well up from 1949. But fewer than 3,000 of them were ragtops, (I had a convert wayfarer in the 1970s, which I sold.)
  17. Don.........I did not put dual filament bases in my parking lights.........I just took them loose from the car lighting system, and hooked them up as turn signals only. Also, I have a turn signal from the 1950s that has a rubber cancelling wheel that contacts the back side of the steering wheel. So my signal unit is about as vintage as you will find, short of the original.
  18. I believe I put my new decal on over the old one......................
  19. I have a set of the Technostalgia tail lights, but not the center brake light.......in six volt..........but have not installed them yet. They have stopped making the 6V model due to lack of sales volume. I thought about trying to use original lenses with their frames, etc.....but have decided that won't really work. So will simply use the lights as they came.
  20. I mainly got the car to drive and "have fun" with......as I really liked the convertible style. I have never been much of a "real" mechanic like rebuilding an engine or transmission......I have always had that type work done by professionals. I didn't feel I had a good place to work on the car and didn't own the necessary tools for the job. I think my self confidence for such things is lacking. So............ I have "tinkered" with wiring, re-doing the interior once, finding parts for the car and other sorts of "peripheral" things. That, and just having the car, has given me enjoyment since 1973. I admire the work others have done on their old cars and the extent to which they have gone to rejuvenate them. I guess you could say that whatever part of owning/fixing an old car you like............it's all good.
  21. Yeah.....that's another thing I.m not sure about. Have the neck with the short piece of hose....which is bypass as I recall. Don't know if there is a thermostat or not. And......will I need a new water distribution tube?
  22. Generally speaking, imho, those sellers are simply trying to milk as much as they possibly can get on those parts. Their attitude seems to be......I have it and you want (or need) it, then you have to pay my price. So, if you have time to wait, you can just keep watching eBay and other places for more reasonably priced parts.
  23. Hi guys. Am thinking it may be time to have the flathead six in the convert overhauled as it is putting out white-ish smoke from the oil fill and road draft tubes. Runs good aside from that. Burns/leaks a little oil along the way. The engine block in the car now is supposed to be a 1957 Plymouth item, bored .030 over. Would have been a 230 c.i. to start with. May have 30 or so thousand miles on it since first rebuild. When the mechanic installed this engine maybe 15 years ago.......he felt that the head on my 1950 Dodge engine was in better condition than the head that came with the '57 motor. So, I have a 57 Plym engine with a '50 Dodge head. (Wasn't the Dodge a 230 also?) Has always seemed to run just fine. So.......I guess the question is --- does it matter which head is on that '57 block? Head currently on the motor has a "D" embossed on the top. An apparent part number of 1311804-2 and came from an engine marked D34-776I9 with a block casting date of 6-26-1950. The presumed '57 head contains the number 1676337-2, the engine it came from is dated 6-14-6, which I presume is June of 1956 and the .....engine number is P30-85983. Any thoughts or info would be helpful......thanks.
  24. Interesting. Thanks for the info gentlemen.
  25. My daughter and son in law got me some old Plymouth magazine ads as a birthday present. The seller had put the date of the year of the magazine from which the ads came on the packaging. Anyway, the 1942 double page ad shows all models available for '42, including the Town Sedan. It says "Here's a smart new design to win admiration wherever you go...a low, rakish car...styled to stay beautiful for years to come! All Plymouths have rotary type safety door latches." It shows a four door car with non-suicide rear doors that open from the rear. I figure someone has some knowledge about that. Don't believe I've ever seen such an animal. I know Dodge made a town sedan in that era.
