  1. you sound like the work schedule my son had working for the railroad....long hours and good bit of driving involved....I am retired, I have time to tinker given nothing else is falling down around my ears at the moment. Been hard to get back into the swing of things since mid October but am working on it and we have a break in weather that is helping big time.
  2. Saturday I ran the big 12K alignment lift up to clean the lift bay and get set for upcoming work. Discovered a leaking supply hose to the cylinder. Today I went to two different shops looking to get hoses made. First lets just say finding the specs was a bit like pulling teeth. First shop did not have the 90's so went to another shop who had all the fittings, higher rated pressure hose and came in 30.00 less. That is always good...! Quick fix once home....the lift is back in operation, and I tweaked the new cables for the first time since install 2/26/21. Now to finish a cup of coffee, get back to the cleaning. Hope everyone is making progress on their projects.
  3. red rims I do like, they make a great fishing reef when submerged....
  4. here you will get opinions based on replies from only a few that will take the time to actually read a white paper...skip the middle man and search out and read an informative white paper...it is a worthy read for certain.
  5. define replace.....as in using modern gauges or remove and replace with rebuilt/NOS gauges?
  6. hybrid sport on the horizon, combined auto and sail.....watertight chassis/bodies with outriggers and sails...sails down for solid surface, outriggers for faster cornering both surfaces...sail up for splish splashing about. we are not evolving....we are revolving....
  7. the snow I posted was only half of what we got total...today we still have a significant amount on the ground but the roof, especially that what faces the sun, is mostly gone now.....the roads are clear and for dry pretty much now. Short lived, we did not bust mid 30's yesterday but today's heatwave of 41 has us all back in shorts and flip flops
  8. exactly why I posted the above information......the clamping voltage is important...especially if your switched current is substantial.....this information has never been posted before that I know of and many will not take a minute to seek out specs and in their defense and often mine also....this info can be a bit hard to find on certain products, sometimes never.....
  9. thanks for the info but, I think I will stick with snow cones....
  10. I wonder if we can impose a tariff on the cold air especially when not solicited? lol
  11. the question of using a 12 volt relay in a 6 volt circut.....clamping force for the output contact is you main concern to prevent early burn out due to light contact and possible overdraw of current and thermal runaway. So you have to make the call yourself. Here are some specs to guide you on the operational paramenter of the stock bosch mini relay (square one that re 30 and or 40 amp rated) General Specifications Bosch Part Number: 0332209150 Voltage: 12V Current: 30A SPDT Enclosure: Standard Cover W/Bracket Footprint: ISO 5 pin Coil Specifications Coil Operating Current: 160 mA Equivalent Coil Resistance: 69 - 80 Ohms Pull-in Voltage: 8 V Drop-out Voltage: 1.2 - 5 V Operating Conditions Operating Temperature: -40 - 100 C Humidity Test: 95% for 7 Days Salt Spray Test: 144 Hours Dust Test: 8 Days Life Tests Resitive Load - N/O: 30 A - 150,000 cycles Resitive Load - N/C: 20 A - 100,000 cycles Motor Load - N/O: 40 A - 150,000 cycles Motor Load - N/C: 15 A - 75,000 cycles Lamp Load - N/O: 30 A - 150,000 cycles Lamp Load - N/C: 15 A - 50,000 cycles Mechanical life: 1,000,000 cycles
  12. Polarity is important with LED..not incandescent
  13. we have one huge solar farm near us.....when completed and reported as now complete...2500 acres large with a huge lambing facility on site for the sheep mowers. Bet this is a setback on output right now. I had to clear the snow off the satellite dish this morning....oh well, just a minor setback and while it is melting today to some degree.....due to the sun and not ambient temps, just punched past freezing a few minutes ago as we hit 33. I feel the roads will be icy yet in places tonight after the sun goes down. Our street is now clear and appears dry. Never lasts long when it snows but this is the largest accumulation that I can recall since the early 80's. Got no place I need to be so enjoying some coffee and catching up with some communications with friends and family.
  14. how much voltage are the solar panel putting out today? Looks like about the same amount of snow we got here in middle Georgia. About all I have accomplished today was to trek out and make sure the little birds are well fed for the day.
  15. I make snow women....complete with snow cones....mums thinks its offensive.....lol I went back out a bit ago....wow did it snow while I was goofing off indoors....we have about 4 inches of snow on the ground. While I admit it is different and snow hides a world of sins.....it is fleeting and we left with the mess in the long run. While I have no need to go out for anything, I will sit back, drink my coffee and look ugly, two things I excel at.
  16. good for you the warming trend...not really going to see that for about another 4-5 days as predicted.....my grandkids are having a blast....no school (south has no way to deal with snow) and my son came and borrowed the sled to pull the kids around on....they having fun for sure.
  17. time to move a bit further south I am thinking...4th snow in 30 years.....that is 4 too many
  18. good idea, might prevent march hare in your finish...
  19. statement or question here?
  20. yeah you can big guy, it's called catching up on all the things that did not get done because of the stroke....blew right over the IWOYTD, works for me......to make up for it you need to have a IWOYT weekend.....kinda like when you run a red light, you make up for it by stopping twice at the next one.
  21. I am thinking these older tubing gland nuts was 1/16 pipe thread.....you should be able to snag these locally from a hardware store, check in their tubing fittings usually in a plastic display case.
  22. many rear gears are offset and is not a problem to deal with at all....is it invasive, yes to a degree but not at all that difficult to do at home and likelihood of doing a retrofit without body mods is slim. You get out only that you wish to introduce. This is the modified floor section on my 48 business coupe to allow for a wider tunnel for the driveshaft. Photo taken right after welding and primer applied. While I did not install rear disc, I do have fully functional ABS brakes in conjunction with my 12.1 rotors up front. These brakes are amazing on this car.
  23. search does not reveal an event that that took place that I could find entries for the year 2024....and I can account for every day for the entire month of my activites....I kept looking for it to be announced.....stayed quite busy in May 2024, lots done around the house and one short road trip included.
  24. can't say for yourself but for me, purposely following the path less taken just to be an individual who refuses to conform to normality bites me in the butt...gotta go your own way is the best phrase. There is no record of a IWOYTD in 2024 on the forum or in my personal daily journal.
  25. I don't recall this taking place last May was my observation and post....
