  1. I can only say a gentle, even, downward pull. BUT! You are not out of the woods yet! After doing what you need to do with the bars, and the sheet metal grill panel, you must get those little clips to agree to being put back on!!! There is where the chaos begins!!!
  2. I second that notion! Happened to me, too!
  3. Rich. We will have to talk. I have quite a few original boxes of Miller Tools in my one storage area. You may be interested? I am just North of Pittsburgh, PA. so not horribly far from you if you decide that these could help your collection. They are heavy!!!
  4. But, maybe to answer his question: No, if you lifted the hood at a car show, 8 out of 10 people would not argue that the motor they see sitting in there was not the one that it was born with.
  5. Good grief! I will probably be able to hear you opening the boxes then!
  6. I am just North of you, in Mars. Let me know about your left overs. I may be interested! Good luck with your project!
  7. I always heard that P10 was the 1940 "Special Deluxe" and the P9 was the "Deluxe" and "Base Plymouth" For 1941, I understood it was P11 for the Base, and Deluxe", and P12 for the "Special Deluxe" models. Looks as if an error could have been made at some point on your title?
  8. Hi Matt. Attached are 3 photos of the line in question. These are in my 39 vert. Hope this helps a bit anyway. I have NO idea if this is original, or just the way it was done for my car. Regards.
  9. Enjoyed the Hershey walk last October. Not as much old Plymouth stuff as seen in prior years though. If I was to stumble upon these moldings @ $30.00 for NOS moldings, I would not have been able to pay the vendor fast enough! I did pick up what I believe are the original mounting clips though. Did not really need them but again, they were priced "alright" and I felt as if I best come away with something for the day! Hershey is always a blast, even in the rain.
  10. I would be happy to help you out. Private Message me with your email address and we can go from there.
  11. Well, my old brain did not fail me (this time anyway). This is what I hope will get you out of your jam. The original box was toast. Every time I touched the darn thing it would fall into dust. Was not able to read any MoPar part numbers on the box either. Sorry. There are 7 of these. Now off to get a HOT cup of coffee!
  12. Oh boy, here I go! I know I have what you are looking for (I believe). I purchased those "caps" 30 years ago not knowing exactly what they were... I can only hope that my feeble memory allows me to find them! I will brave the elements(17 degrees and snowing) and let you know what I come up with. If memory serves me right, they are in the original box too. Wish me luck!
  13. Very interesting replies. Thank you all for them, and your photos! Stunning cars you have! Already makes me long for the warm days to take them out for a spin!
  14. Well, how about that! Thanks, Guys! I googled 49 Dodge, and saw the exact grill. I originally started my search at 1950, so just missed it! I know absolutely nothing about this year of car. I saw in my google search photos that there seems to be a couple of styles of grills for this same production year? BIG thank you for your replies. Great site here.
  15. Well, you all have heard the saying "Barn find", but this really is! This grill followed me home the other day, I am thinking that it is a 50 Chrysler? But, the more I look at 50 Chrysler photos, it looks as if the top center grill bar on that year is actually mounted to the hood of the car... At any rate, it is a cool looking grill that more than likely would have been scrapped, so I am glad to have been at the right place at the right time! It will make a nice wall hanger in the garage, but would really like to know what it is from! Any info much appreciated! I will attempt to attach a photo below.
  16. So sorry to hear about your loss. I own a K-9 Boarding Kennel and hear of the passing of clients dogs that I have become very attached to over the past 11 years in business. Simply one of the hardest phone calls to receive. At 14.5, a Corgi that owns me is facing the same in the not too distant future. He is O.K. with it, I will not be! Condolences....
  17. David. There are several different springs on the window channel. Do you have a photo of the one(s) you need to replace? I may be able to help. Also, I have maybe 50 NOS, and about 50 nice used grill bar clips. They do not come cheap. Paid out the nose for them when I finally found them years back. PM me if you wish to inquire.
  18. Thanks Guys for your input. The top is not too bad, but just did not want to make it worse by using plain "car wash" on it. I think I over think things sometimes....
  19. Hello Folks. Looks as if several years of simple garage dust has made the canvas top on my 39 convertible a bit dirty. I have tried a damp towel, and also a whisk broom lightly on it, but it still looks as if it has a dirt issue. What do you guys use to clean your tops when it simply becomes apparent that the above is not working? I have heard horror stories in the past about products that leave behind a residue, or that leave the top streaky. I would rather leave it the way it is than to create another issue. Thank you!
  20. I have several for a 41 Plymouth. Complete. Should be the exact replacement. I do have a complete P-15 dash here too, so I can double check once I get to the storage building. P.M. if still interested.
  21. Rats. Thought that I might have had one for you, but it ended up being for a Model #800. Close, but no cigar...
  22. Thanks Guys for your input. I suppose that I am attempting to side step a mistake by "cleaning" my top. Not that it is real dirty, it is not, but more of a collection of dust and pollen that I am thinking about removing. I simply do not want to make it look streaky, or blotchy. I may be better to simply leave it as is. Just looking for comments from those that have soft cloth top cars.
  23. Hello All. Trying to make a choice as to what product to use to clean the top on my 39 Plymouth convertible. No saying that the top is really "dirty", but, it does show some darkening where the top folds when you have the top down. I am certain that is is full of garage dust, too once I begin the washing process. It is a tan top, if that makes any difference in the product I should purchase. Also, any tips on applying and removing the cleaner (brushing, not brushing, sponging)? Thanks Guys!
  24. I saw the posts to use plumbing vent pipes and to phone Mr. Call. Nothing else really. I emailed Mr. Call over a week ago, but received no reply. Frankly, I do not wish to go the vent pipe method either. If there is something I am missing in the search, I would love to know. Also, nothing was every stated about being able to use a found boot on multiple years.
  25. Hi All. Tried looking this up from this forums archives, but could not come up with anything, but if I have missed something sorry. So here goes. The Post Hole Covers I am inquiring about is a rubber covered steel "plate" that attaches to the floor to keep weather and such from entering the car. Many years back a fellow was reproducing these for the 1941 model year anyway, in Castro Valley CA. Since then I have not heard of anyone else doing so. Is there such a person out there? Also, I see that there are different part numbers for just about every new production year from the 30's till late 40's. Is it really true that a new form was made each and every new year? If a new form was used for every new year, maybe that is why there are few to none of these left, and why no one would think about ever reproducing them since I am sure start up costs would prevent this.
