  1. Oh man, Ed. That's terrible! Did you get hurt?
  2. That was interesting, as well as alarming. I never knew that the older cars would fold in like that. It almost looked like the Chevy's hood and fenders were not bolted on by the way they came loose. I always thought that the cars' tops from that time were poorly engineered because of the way the curved pilar was designed in the front. I would think that our cars would tend to be made a little more solid then the mid to late 50's models. When I get in my Plymouth, I always think about how I could get into an accident and how to prepare myself to avoid one by not speeding in heavy traffic and watching the people who make a left turn in front of me. I assume that if I have a collision from the front, I'm going to hit the steering wheel for sure. So, I am careful and give it great thought before I go out for a drive. Looking at the pics below it seems that in a lot of head on collisions involving 1930's -1940's cars, the pasenger compartments tend to look intact and not folded in like how it did on the '59 Chevy. The last two pics show how solid the cars were by how they collided and one fell completely over on it's side. Even though some of the cars didn't fold in, I'm sure that the driver and passengers were seriouly injured, if not killed in these collisions.
  3. Man, that looks pretty small (in length) compared to the one I that just snapped. I want to be able to push in the clutch without pulling my calf muscle...LOL!
  4. While driving today, the clutch return spring I bought at Auto Zone broke at one of the tips leaving a lot of play in the clutch pedal. Mind you, this was installed a year ago so the spring is not that old. Ok...I know...I guess I get what I deserve for buying a spring at Auto Zone. Does anybody know where better springs are sold? Ones that can take the stretching better and last longer.
  5. I can't see how it would work. These things get hot enough running without it.
  6. I just looked into Sirus and XM and they didn't seem to have many selections on 40's and 50's music. Maybe just one station each between the two of them. I would think there would be a live broadcast big band channel and maybe one for old radio shows, but the majority seem like newer music...80's and 90's. Are there other satellite servers?
  7. No, what I mean is that I was just looking at their playlist and it seemed like a lot of 60's-80's, with a lot of the same stuff the oldies stations play. Let's face it...your FM oldies station and mine are probably owned by the same companies and told to play what they want, not what the listeners want to hear. What can I say, I'm an all 50's music fan.
  8. Hmmmm...that seems pretty close to what is played on the oldies stations today. Not much offered for the 50's music fans.
  9. Same here with AM, plus all the Spanish stations as well. The FM oldie stations play the same stale top 10 oldies everyday so that's why I put a radio/CD player in the glove box so I can hear MY music on CD, I pod or pretty soon...satellite radio.
  10. That's cool, Ed. Thanks for looking anyay.
  11. Hey, I had lost count...LOL!
  12. Hmmmm...I must have missed that. Sorry, guy. Your off the hook...LOL I see what you mean, Norm. I wasn't requesting his personal data....just maybe a state and city and profession...etc. Nothing too personal.
  13. Michael...I noticed you are new on here and have a lot of questions about P15's and where to get parts, etc., but have yet to see your car. I assume you have one, right? You started a thread about "seeing everyone's cars," so how about posting your own P15 so we can see your your project, as well. Also, how about telling us a little more about yourself on your profile. Waddya say?
  14. I would think you would have a hard time from keeping the black vinyl tuck from burning and melting.
  15. Thanks, Tim. I will keep that info in mind for sure.
  16. Actually, I live in the next valley over and we aren't getting the smoke, but we can see it in the air. Yesterday at dusk, it was kind of eerie to see the mountains right above us so dark from the smoke. It was a massive smoke cloud that gave thye moon an odd orange glow all night.
  17. I was told that the original fender welting for the P15 Special Deluxes was stainless. So I just recently went down to the antique Ford guy near town and bought two 10ft stainless steel welts that I am going to shine up then install. They are straight pieces that have to be formed. Luckily, Mando has an original stainless welt he got off his recently purchased convertable that I can use to copy from.
  18. Blah...choke, choke...cough, cough. Not a healthy site. Here's a video I found of a time-lapse of the fires burning. Now you can actually see how much smoke is pouring into the desert. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=d5c_1251766392&p=1
  19. It still works well, Norm.
  20. Yeah, Ed...let me know. If you don't find it I'll go ahead and take the other guys' advice and not use one, but it does add to the authenticity.
  21. Just picked up a oil bath for the P15, but it didn't have an assembly to motor brace with it. Does anyone out there have an extra brace that you don't want or maybe even a pic with specs so I can maybe have one fabricated? Thanks, Darin
  22. Yes, that is how I would do it. You won't have the fancy border, but it would still look period correct.
