  1. A good shot of Powerhouse's beautiful '39 Plymouth. Rob's car and my car with a nice Buick. Some more dancing Why men go to war.
  2. It was my first time there and I had a great time, as well as meeting some nice people! Found it to be quite refreshing from the usual rockabilly shows I used to go to. The girls are prettier too...not all tatted up. I truly do need to spruce up on my swing dancing though.
  3. Well, the cars in the lot are mainly SUV's and Pick-ups, and most likely American or foreign-made cars. The reason I say "Mexican car lot" is because it's peppered with Mexican flags and signs in Spanish. Hope that makes it clearer.

  6. By the time I got my P15 in 2006, the local A&W had closed down. I always wanted to go there with an old car and catch their cruise nights and have a car hop wait on me...etc. Now, it's a Mexican car lot...go figure.
  7. Dennis- I have to make it out there one of these Saturday mornings coming up. I'll give you heads up and let you know and maybe we can meet up. I don't know why I said Norma instead of Emma. Just a brain fart, I guess.
  8. This is probably one of the last, original greasy spoons on old Route 66 in California. It's called Norma Jean's Holland Burger and it's located just out of Victorville on old Highway 66 on the way to Barstow (I'm sure Dennis is familiar with this place). It's been in existence since 1947 and it's world famous to Route 66 travelers with great, tasty food. No "Happy Days" malt shop look. No loud, bright neon lights overwhelming the inside. No reproduction Wurlitzer jukebox in the corner playing 1950's and 60's CD's. No waitresses dressed poodle skirts and poni-tails and chewing bubble gum. It's the real thing serving good old-fashioned American cooking...just like it used to be at very affordable and reasonable prices. No Sonic Burger, Legend's or Peggy Sue's can compete with this original greasy spoon. I'll let the pictures and info links explain the rest. 9. Sonic Burgers isn't anything special. It's your typical stereotyped, overdone, wannabe 50's drive in. They can't even get the car hops right. The food...nothing to brag about. Sorry guys...I had a bad experience with them and it didn't leave a good impression with me.
  10. HA HA...just joshin' with ya
  11. Thanks, Don. I was bidding on that, but now everyone knows.
  12. These aren't rat rods...more like rust rods.
  13. Ah...a rat rod. From what I have seen, a rat rod is nothing more than a half-ass job done on a car. Kind of in between finished and unfinished (more towards unfinished). Sometimes rat rods are nothing more than customizing attempts on cars that went wrong, so the owner had to patch it and cover it up the best he could. Just my two cents.
  14. I use a very low cost, but potent product named Awesome. You can find it in 99c Stores. It's a real good degreaser.
  15. Deano- I painted mine a 1946-48 Chrysler color called Seacrest Green. It's a strange color because it seems to look more mint as the sun goes down.
  16. Balfour Green was my first choice to paint my car, but on the paint chip it looked awful. On your car it looks rather nice. Something to think about come the next repaint. BTW...I had some friends out from London and Portsmouth last week and we took them for a ride out in the P15. The really liked the old car, but had never seen one before. I told them that there are a few out in England so maybe they might see yours, now that they know how they look. Cheers! Darin
  17. Deano...is that Balfour Green? Hard to tell on this screen at work.
  18. Speaking of shrouds...where can you get one for a P15? Are they out there or do they have to be fabricated?
  19. Thanks Captden...that was what I was looking for.
  20. Yeah, that's what scares me about driving at higher speeds. The fastest I have gone in the car is 75 mph, and that was cruising on old Route 66 in the desert. On the freeway I stay in the slow lane and cruise between 55 and 65. I just want to be sure that it doesn't flip. I mean, what usually happens during a blowout? Does the car pull to the side that the tire is blown out on or does it tend to go any which way? I never experienced it before, so I wouldn't know.
  21. Just wondering if anyone on here has ever had a front tire blow out on them on their old Plymouths or Dodges and what was the outcome. The other day while I was driving on the freeway in the P15, I was wondering if my front tire ever blew out, say if I was traveling at about 65 mph, what would my chances be that the car would go out of control and I could possibly flip over. I have 15 in. rims and I'm not sure if they are the safety ones or not. I also have bias ply tires so if a tire blows out does it stay on the rim or come off? What are the statistics of front tire blowouts on cars like ours and how to survive them. Darin PS: Not sure if this topic has been brought up before, but if so I'm bringing it up again.
  22. Yeah, I can kind of picture it. I was wondering if I put shorter stops in there would it open a little higher? Just another back burner idea.
  23. Yeah, I get a lot of compliments on that green for some reason because it's not a common color. The "older" folks remember the color, while the younger crowd just likes it. I've heard called everything from pistachio to seafoam green (even someone said Easter egg green ), but I know it's Seacrest Green, and that's all that matters, right?
  24. Yeah, John...I think there is a difference on the top and bottom, but I'm just happy I had this extra piece. Well, off for my Saturday cruise.
