  2. OK silver it is Aliens seem to like silver
  3. So what are the accurate colors? Year to year? I guess the orange will be associated with a rebuild. I gor no problem with that. Often my best runners had a nice rusty color .Ok I like the clean look better
  4. What did we learn class? All cooling systems are not created equal. And Im trying to resist saying "okay, cool" . thanks for the input
  5. My previous old cars had low pressure caps on the rads. I wonder it that would help? Sure about an inch or so would be the standard
  6. OK its hot out. Top off radiator. If Im not mistaken p18s did not use pressure caps (?) but a full radiator is going to discharge the top off. Has any one added a coolant recovery tank? discharge tube is on the right of rad cap leaving little room to add one between rad and battery. Or just leave the coolant an the DW and live with it? Keep your dog from the stuff
  7. If the bracket is missing try some 'plumbers tape' galv strapping with holes punched in it
  8. Using corn gas tends to dry out gasket around accelerator pump plunger. Booger will do the hesitation/flatspot thing sometimes. Maybe try to richen mixture with main jet? Take the pledge. NO CORN GAS!
  9. May 53 issue of Pop Mechanics Floyd Clymer ( Im assuming thats the service manual guy) reviews the 53 Plymmie Cran. He notes fuel consumption 17 around the city, 19-20 in the country using approx 1 qt of oil every 650 miles. while tearing up the pavement at 47-55 mph. (my grandfather would put his car in neutral every down hill he could. Thats how you get 20 mph, dammit!). His dislikes? he didnt like the position of the gas cap, he wanted it behind the rear license plate, and he wanted an extra ash tray. His 9th Plymouth some people are never happy
  10. thats a pretty ambitious project for the best of grease monkeys. Theres engines out there. the usual search platforms for mopar flatheads. (my recommendation) or "soup it up" like us oldtimers usta say
  11. Orange rag top?? Groovy, man
  12. yeah that mpg seems a little hi for an OD car.But thats a great trip. If anyone can dial that fuel consumption its you. Booger gets around 14 mpg. If I recall my previous plymmies got around 17-18. (50 yrs ago)
  13. that is so awesome. your reward! thanks for sharing
  14. Western Auto??Damn They might work. Save em for the Smithsonian.
  15. They might be fine for cruising and look good. youll feel the difference between a bias tire and a radial the way it handles
  16. I agree with Sam Get it running go from there. How are the tires, brakes, suspension before you head out on freeway speeds. Hot rod it down the road if you wish Old cars handle way differently and are made to cruise. Your safety is what matters. IMHO upgrade is not a modification. Axle swaps are a lot cheaper than R10s (if you can find one) Plenty of info on axle swaps in here.
  17. Related to the breather tube...the cap itself, a one way slotted fit.. Vented and points just one way. All over the gd coil and dizzy! Remedies?
  18. I hear ya Rich I took the pledge this year and Boogers not using corn gas anymore. Non oxy gas is 4.50 a gal. I attended a local car show a couple of years back. It took me almost an hour to get in! My old clutch wasnt diggin that. So now I park outside and walk in. (and that way I can bail early if I want0 and still enjoy the sights
  19. Pull the knob out first to set your desired station. give that a try
