  1. Norm, is it Permatex Aviaition sealant, this stuff is brown and syrupy, is sticky as well, it is gasoline resistant.......................Fred
  2. It is made in such a fashion that it does not seal air tight against the filler neck pipe, that way it can draw or expel air.............Fred
  3. Hi Norm, so I should be okay, the procedure is to use a thin coating of Aviation sealant on both sides of the gasket, snug up the machine screws till the sealant sets-up, then tighten down the screws snuggly, but not real tight. My machine screws also have a little O ring on each screw. Norm is this how you attached your filler neck flange.............Fred
  4. This flange is held on by machine screws, I was not overly impressed with this feature, did not know this till I got the tank, there pic does not show thisit has a thick gasket, so hopefully it does not leak, the filler hoses should not be a problem, as there won't be pressure aginst the connections to create leaks...........Fred
  5. Jim, on this tank you need a vented cap, this allows the air to intake and exhaust, you do not have a vent valve on the tank if it is OEM. The suction, will collapse this tank iof given enough time, when the gas is hot it will also expand, it needs to vent out, as well as be able to draw air in if needed to prevent a vaccuum effect from the fuel pump.......
  6. Todd, they advertise it on their website for $250.00 but they sold me mine 2 months ago for $215, they have specials once in a while. Plus you are buying direct from the supplier, if there is a problem you can deal directly with Tanks..........Fred ps now that you mention it, they quoted me $250, but sold it to me for $215, also this tank is made in Taiwan, but is pretty decent , the one glitch is the sender holes being tapped in the direction they are, but this can be overcome
  7. Pics of my 1941 to 1948 Mopar tanks from Tanks.inc, this is mounted in my 47 Chrysler...........Fred
  8. You can buy direct from Tanks.inc for $215.00 plus the $25 for shipping in the states, or you can get the exact same tank made by them in stainless for $325.00, why pay this guy an extra $35.00. The down side of this tank is this, the sender hole is drilled and tapped so that the sender goes toward the back of the tank, but there is no room in this direction, you will need a repop from Roberts, the type you can reverse the Float arm swing. This tank is venbted and baffled, the filler neck is not attached, it goes on with machine screws and a flange with gasket.
  9. Welcome to the forum, Saskatchewan the province to find rust free old cars you are going to enjoy this place. Canada only manufactured one size block for all the displacements for PDCD, it is a 25 inch block for the 218, 228, 251 and 265. The bores and strokes set the engines apart, they were all made in the Windsor Ontario Plant, since 1937............Fred near Winnipeg
  10. I have been known to "talk Turkey":D when making a deal.....LOL
  11. The bottom line is this, the wiring works well, it looks okay, is safe and not a fire hazard, and you did it yourself and that you like it......................Fred
  12. Hi Phil the new tank came with universal straps, thich I adapted to the stock oem brackets that were attached to the trunk floor, not the most elegant but they are solid and secure...................Fred
  13. The sender in question, you can see how the repops are made..........Fred
  14. Here is a pic of the new tank, you can see the filler neck flange is secured to the tank via machine screws and gasket, then a hose followed by a metal elbow. I just want to make sure this baby does not leak, I am not overly impressed with thisconcept. I did use aviation sealant on the gasket first...........Fred
  15. The reason I bought the truck sender is this, I thought it was made in reverse, as that is what my aftermarket tenk requires, but the repop sender can have there float arm moved to either direction, by loosening a set screw on the sender shaft. Ed J. was very nice to trade me this sender for another to help me deal with this aftermarket tank.Fred
  16. The amount of fibreglass resin used was just a dab on the end of the float arm shaft, the shaft goes into the hole, the resin then dries and holds like glue, I just wanted it more secure and tight. I probably should have soldered it, maybe I should still do that, I do not know how to solder very well, could get someone to do it.Should I clean off the fibreglass resin first, or would heat melt it off. The sender is mounted in the tank, but I have not used any gasket sealant yet, I am not going to put gas in the tank till warm weather, that way if there are any leaks, i can deal with it outside. What might be a remedy on this.
  17. Hi all, got my new fuel sender this week, the float arm was too long, so I needed to shorten the float arm about 3 inchs. My new tank is 8 and 1/8 inches deep. I shortened the arm to be just off the bottom, so when the tank reads empty, there would be about a gallon of gas left. On this repop sender, I removed the float arm from the brass shaft fitting on the sender, I then cut the float arm to size. When I re-installed the float arm in to the brass piece on the sender, it was now loose fitting, not tight fitting as it was before. What I did was mix some fibreglass resin and apply a dab on the end of the float arm and reinsert it into the brass hole on the sender fitting, this cured and is nice and tight. My question is, will gasoline have any negative effect on the small dab of fibreglass resin I used to secure the float arm.............Fred
  18. Do a "search" on this website, there was plenty of info and discussion on this topic..............Fred
  19. Thanx all, the funeral was today, because the highways were completely ice-covered due to a down pour of freezing rain here this morning, Myself and my wife and kids could not go the 30 miles or so to the funeral. I attempted to go onto the highway 2 times, once with our 2005 Dodge Caravan, from our gravel road onto the highway, the van just slid right across the road, it would have been very dangerous to proceed with my wife and small children. I then waited a bit and tried with our 1994 Ford Ranger with snow tired and studs all the way aound, same result, I turned around and came home. I feel very badly about not getting to this funeral, my Mother and older Sister , were upset we could not make it to the service. This afternoon the highways were sanded and salted, they were driveable by 4:00 PM, but many hours after the funeral....................Fred
  20. I like the fact my factory clock works, even though it's 15 minutes fast every 24 hours. Like your self, the battery switch is turned to off, when the car is not being driven, I can live with the clock as it is, will not pay big bucks at this point for the clock to be repaired or altered...............Fred
  21. I think I will live with a clock running fast or better yet maybe I could mail it to you, for servicing............Fred
  22. Todays clocks are certainly accurate and foolproof
  23. This sounds logical, so what is the remedy, let it wear off.....................Fred
  24. Which will be AM and which will be PM.....
  25. Thanx guys for the reply
