  1. I learned a lot from Don! He was a good guy and I'm glad I got to meet him!
  2. Hey guys! It’s been awhile since I’ve posyed but I need some advice. I’ve been driving my D24 for a number of years now without an issue. Labor Day weekend, however, I got a ride home in a rollback. short story: I had some overheating problems on 300 mile journey to and from Michigan. Thankfully on the very last 60 miles of my journey, I heard some rattling coming from my engine, blue smoke came out of the tailpipe, and she died immediately at a stoplight. I didn’t want to chance it so I had her towed the last 60 miles home. I’m greatful because Hagerty covered the tow. today I finally got a chance to do a compression check. Here are the results: 1= 82 2= 35 3= 71 4= 80 5= 35 plug oil soaked 6= 53 Plugs all looked fine except for 5. I was able to start it and it ran smooth but after a few revs something started rattling inside the engine again so I turned it off as soon as I could get to the key. any advice on a next step would be appreciated. Thanks!
  3. Hello all! I am restoring a ‘46 D24 and I need a water distribution tube. Anyone out there have one lying around you’re willing to part with for a reasonable price? Thanks in advance!
  4. I've got a D24. I bought it in 98 with a hole in cylinder 5. I had the engine rebuilt, replaced rusted out floor and rocker panels with my welder, and put it back together with the help of a few gentleman on this site. It's been my daily driver at times except in the winters of course. I drive her back and forth to Michigan every year. One of my favorite places to be is behind the wheel of my D24. Here is a photo of her on the way back from MI. Just posting all this to let you know of the fun that's in store for you.
  5. Thanks Silverdome! I have a grease fitting on my other 2 water pumps this one does not obviously. That is why I asked.
  6. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/oumhepqixbxhirm/AADUrLC8kU_nIwHP_1rtqJ-Va?dl=0 Hey guys, I just bought this water pump on amazon. The shaft turns really smooth and it actually seems to be a well built pump. My only concern is this hole in the side of the pump that exposes the shaft. Could it be possible that someone on the line forgot to tap it and put a grease fitting in?
  7. Thanks! That's exactly what I was thinking. I'll contact him and find out if he's got that gasket..
  8. Hey guys, I accidentally tore the carb horn gasket pictured when I was trying to check my float, clean passages, and soak the accelerator pump in oil overnight. Anyone know where I can get this gasket? I'd rather not buy the whole kit for just one gasket. Thanks in advance! Todd Bracik
  9. Took the advice of using a torch and candle wax. I was able to back out the studs with a pair of vice grips. Cleaned it up with a wire brush and painted it silver... Thanks for the help guys!
  10. 1946 D24: The cylinder water outlet elbow, as it's called in the manual, houses the thermostat. On my engine, it is held to the cylinder head with studs rather than bolts and I am having problems removing it so I can replace the thermostat. Does anyone know of a trick to remove this cylinder outlet elbow when studs are involved? I can't seem to break it free. I've already used plenty of of penetrating oil. Also, are the studs screwed into the cylinder head?
  11. Hi all! Where can I get the correct size "O" ring for the oil pump? I have a '48 D24. Thanks in advance!
  12. Thanks guys! It came out real easy once I knew what was up. Todd.
  13. I will try when I get home. It looked pressed on to me. I'll feel silly if its that. simple. Here is a pic of it:
  14. Hello all, Long time no post for me. Are there any D24/25 owners who know how to get the speedometer. Mine is jammed up and has broken the speedo cable. Ive tried working it back and forth with a small screw driver to no avail so I would like to take it out. Sounds easy enough. I undid the 2 3/8 nuts and its still hooked into the high beam indicator light somehow. Can someone advise please?
