  1. Maybe we should talk about this?
  2. Grab the top and bottom of the tire - not the sides.

  4. Has any one used the DEI pipe wrap to eliminate vapor lock?
  5. I have a six volt battery tender from Batteries Plus which I leave on all the time.
  6. My understanding of vapor lock is that the fuel is boiling in the line probably because the fuel line is too close to the exhaust manifold. I don't think the weather would matter. I've had vapor lock occur after I have coasted down a city street - not using any gas - so the gas in the line hasn't moved as much as if I have been on the gas. After I've stopped at the light/stop sign the car stumbles when it is time to go. Runs fine an hour later.
  7. Feels so good when they numb it.
  8. Years ago Dad owned a couple of 1950 DeSotos. He used to throw in an 8volt battery in the winter. Never turned out good!
  9. Do those specs really say that the kick down should only be used at speeds under 35MPH?
  10. Port or Starboard?
  11. 60,000 - miles - all original - I use non detergent 30W - straight six
  12. Are you aware of a pneumatic tool that can expand exhaust pipe? It fits in your air gun, spins, then expands and stretches the pipe enough to get the stubborn ones together. Still needs to be clamped when you do get it together.
  13. Priceless
  14. My speedometer works perfectly when I first leave the driveway. But, after I stop the first time the needle then drags way behind - I can to 50 and it shows 10. It never goes back to being accurate unless it sits like over night.

    Oil

Always fun to talk about which oil is best! I've been watching videos by Vice Grip Garage. He recommends using diesel oil in the crankcase.
  17. There is a strong possibility that your problem is electrical. Check the governor on the transmission, clean the points, connection to the carb, etc.
  18. How did you get those trees to grow in the right place?
  19. Neutral is in the middle
  20. If you don't have a stethoscope you can use a length of heater hose and cup your hand over you ear.
  21. Thanks, Bearing noise would probably change with the brakes or turning left or right.
  22. Never thought of that - thanks.
  23. I have a 1951 DeSoto - 25" block - fluid drive. There is a noise from the rear - a growl or a loud buzz More on deceleration - less on acceleration Fluids are good. Any thoughts?
  24. What do these numbers tell us for this 1951 DeSoto? Vehicle # 627 6226 Body # 100 3283 Engine # S15 35I57
