It’s about 95% original paint. There were some holes in the usual places - front of the rockers and behind the front and rear arches where the dirt and water gets trapped. Managed to sympathetically blend the paint with a matched colour. The rest is 70 years old and shines up well when I can be bothered to give it a once over. I’ve had show and magazine featured cars before and this is far more liberating knowing that I don’t have to worry about every knock and scratch. I wasn’t even that worried when someone parked so close to me at the supermarket on the weekend that I could barely get the door open. They must’ve liked the car and wanted a closer look! Continued from previous post… Whilst I was in that area, I vacuumed and wiped the trunk (boot) area down as it’s been filled with all sorts of stuff lately. Comes in handy when I don’t want to get the daily driver dirty. Gave under the hood (bonnet) a once over too and Gummi Pfleged the seals and window rubbers. I’ve had that stick for about 15 years - it lasts forever but does a great job keeping the seals supple.

Had a spare hour or so today so thought I would tackle the fuel gauge. Have been getting fluctuations so had a look at the sender to see if I could trace the issue. Gave all the connections a good clean with some wire wool and brass brushes and all seems to be ok.

This book is over 30 years old and it’s likely that a lot of these yards don’t exist anymore but I’ve attached those listed for Iowa. Might be worth a Google search to see if any are still in business….

As far as I know, they are. I contacted them through their site earlier this year and got a reply about a week later. Very helpful and even included the superseding part numbers where applicable. Is there enough time left on the auction to be able to wait?

Not much to report - running great. Been trying to use it as much as I can. Yesterday it was filled with lawnmowers, bags of topsoil and other landscaping equipment, today a visit to the garden centre….

It was all very well organised - drip trays were mandatory! There wasn’t much attention paid to the GM stuff…

Went to a local show this weekend - there was even another flathead 6 in attendance - a ‘49 Dodge truck. Amazing given it was a small town show in England!

I’ve started adding some of this in my tank now that E10 petrol has been brought in. https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-69352-millers-oils-eps-ethanol-protection-fuel-treatment-additive.aspx Might be useless, but time will tell I guess. Might be worth sticking to the premium or super unleaded as most of those over here still have a lot less than 5% ethanol content.

Nice pictures - thanks for sharing. It really is a small world…even though I’m back home in the U.K. now, I spent my college years in northern Maine and travelled all over. Fort Kent, Presque Isle, Bar Harbor, etc. The winters up there were a bit of a shock to me though! Heard lots of stories of many old cars abandoned in the woods up there, but never had the time to really go out looking. Found a couple though. Surely got to be some old Mopars hiding!
