Felt it here in Upland, but it lasted no longer than 10 seconds...the most, not the 30 seconds that the media claims it shook for. Turned the news on (Channel 7), but turned it off after about 10 miuntes. I couldn't take how they were trying to make it seem like it was as big at the 1971 earthquake....and they will be dwelling on it for another two hours until they run out of things to talk about...oh well, back to life.

Did you fellows ever think that somebody might be trying to tell you something???? Fires all year long, mudslides caused by heavy rains on the fire denuded hillsides, earthquakes, urban fires, levy breaks and other flooding.

What are you waiting for lessionsand boils, locusts, rivers of blood?????

I know the weather is nice but give it back to Spain, and GET OUT!!!!!

Hope no one suffered injury or damage.

One more question does tempting destiny give you guys an adreneline rush or something?????Is that what it all about???

When you drive into Hollywood there is a billboard with the Wizard of Oz Characters.

The Billboard States:

“Earthquakes, Mudslides, and Crime Oh! My”

I think that says it all.

From a North Easterner. Who probably doesn’t understand two of the three? I do however know about crime. We definitely have our far share.

God Bless !!!

You bring up a very good point. Hopefully most of the country, no, excuse me, the world is reading your excerpts re; living in CA. Also alot of people here that really would like to live in a much safer place.

There are a few of us that are volunteering to HOLD THE FORT, and keep California in the USA.

We will do this for the love of all mankind, but ask you to leave all your old cars behind(except Fords and Chevs) so you will not be burden in your rush to escape.

felt it while I was at work. apparently not hard enough for the boss to let us go home.:D so not too good. got home late because all the traffic, I don't think it had much to do with the quake.:D

on a side note. My co-worker is from Indiana and this is his first earthquake and He wanted to go home and was all scared. I found it funny. ofcourse I would probably be just as scared if I was in the midwest with a tornado breathing down my neck....:D

Also, anyone who wants to leave California can do so...I plan to stay!:D

JIPJOBXX your rocki rolli.... that was funny!!!!

Here's one item for consideration by you Californians in quake country:

what's hanging up in your garage that might fall and damage your car?

One guy on the HAMB said a valve cover he had hung up was jarred off

the wall and hit his car, causing some damage. You might make the

knick knacks and what-nots a little more secure.

We have the New Madrid fault line over in the southeast corner of Missouri.

I think that's the one that rattled things up into Indiana recently.

It's far enough away from here, some don't think much damage would

occur.....but you can't tell for sure. Earthquake coverage can be added

onto a Homeowners Insurance policy, with cost based on proximity to a

fault, and the type of construction of your house.....frame or brick.

It also has (at least with State Farm) a separate and notably larger

deductible on both house and contents than the regular coverage for

fire, wind, etc.

Everything is fine here. At my shop in Riverside the noise was so loud I thought a can had fallen off of the lift in one of the neighbors shops. But all is well with nothing broken that I know of.

Earthquake? THAT was an earthquake? WOW...I thought it was just gas.

I just moved a few months ago to San Diego from good Old friendly & Clean New York.:P ..I'LL TAKE THE EARTHQUAKES OVER THAT PLACE ANY DAY! :D

We don't get hurricanes here. They call 'em typhoons instead.

The news is so starved for a hot story, they are still trying to make the recent quake look like the big one. If I see that same crumbled brick wall in Pomona one more time...........sheesh! That was an abandoned and condemned unreinforced brick stucture, nearly 100 years old. Of course it crumbled!

I hear you went up to Canada eh?

...and as for fires, mudslides and crime... hey, I feel for all the victims of these events, but the media blows everything way out of proportion. Fact is, I've lived in Southern CA all my life. I've never feared any of the things mentioned above and have to laugh everytime the news stations jump on them with "Storm Watch 08" or "Firestorm 08" or some other hyper-sensational story to boost ratings. Bottom line is that California is good living and most people will live their entire life in bliss if they just keep the TV turned off!

I am in Orange about 5 to 10 miles from the center of where it hit....Lost a few gallons of water in my pool, but hell when my kids jump in I loose more:eek:

oh no I can see it now......TEENAGE CANNONBALL STORM HITS ORANGE COUNTY news at 10:00.

I don't even watch local news anymore. I was just glad to hear that it was close to me, because we did shake a bit and if it were up in LA and we felt it like that down here, then in fact the news would have had a real story...but then they would have probably missed it altogether. LOL

It is great to get the important news off of the car forum. My sister lives in Huntington Beach, CA and after she got phone service back she had to call me back in Minnesota to tell me of the terrible earthquake. I was able to reply that hey, it was only 5.4, whats the big deal?

I was also ahead of the curve on the bus killing. With the shoddy air service now a days you'd expect that on an airplane, not a Greyhound.

Thanks for the timely OT reports

I was working on the 4th floor of a building in downtown Pasadena when the quake hit. We felt a pretty good jolt and the building started swaying. We felt a bunch of smaller after shocks and the building continued to sway for probably 2 to 3 minutes afterwards. All four elevators in the building stopped working as well as the escallators.

Having been born and raised in Nebraska it was rather interesting to experience my first quake. Hopefully it will be my last as I'll be leaving Pasadena in early November :D.

I can handle tornadoes and such but I don't think I care to be around when the next quake hits.
