Im looking for a rear end that I can put in my Plymouth that will hook up to my torque tube. I know about using a 8 3/4 rear end out of late 60s B body mopar, but I wanna keep the original look. Was there a better mopar rear end made in the 50s that I can put in my 53 Plymouth???

Come on guys....lets figure this out.

What rear end do you have now? I thought by 53 3.73 was standard? I know my dads 54 has one. 3.55 would need to come out of a desoto or chrysler I think but they are around too.

3.73 and 3.54 were available but you will most likely find them in automatic tranny cars (54 and up)..or the 4 speed M6 Chrylser...possibily DeSoto...or at least theat seeems to be the cars owner are posting as having these ratios in...

I have 3 P-15 Plymouths. One I'm driving, and two parts cars. None have torque tube rears.

Neither does my 33 Dodge or my 42 Dodge.

If..you have a car of Plymouth body and a rear gear with a torque tube...look to another manufactuer..as this appears to have been transplanted into this car..I believe GM was still using this setup into the early 50's..post a pic of the unit on the forum..it will get identified..
