I'm chomping at the bit to get the carpet sewn and in, but I promised myself I'd get all the under-dash work done while the seats were out to minimize the yoga positions. So...all the dash bulbs converted to 12v LEDs, a redo of the turn signal switch, gutting of the radio and installation of a  bluetooth unit,  redoing the clock to a piezoelectric unit (behind existing clock face), and building and installing a new glovebox.

Today was getting underlayment in and tomorrow I can finally roll out the carpet and get to it!

May I suggest using some oil undercoating on the inside while the interior is still out?

Also, did you save the radio parts? These might still be useful for repairs of the OEM units.

I did save the radio chassis and parts thinking i'd give them to whomever needs them. I'd imagine the tubes are still good. any takers? PM me.

I could probably used some spares myself, what kind of radio did you have in there? Was that a Philco? What model number? Before hording some good things it would at least make sense to make sure they are compatible with my unit :)

I suppose you could slap some flex seal on interior floorboards. (But I wouldnt) and good time to anchor lap seatbelts to raised floorboards behind front seats. Use large washers with that install.

It is a Philco model #PD4908. Happy to pass it along to whomever needs it.

And it looks really good. Great to see the different options and questions this forum presents. I will not be headed down this road for some time but your posts are really thought provoking. Cheers  Dave

Thanks, Dave.

And this morning I got the seats in.

I would really like to have a conversation with the auto engineers who designed the front seat frame mounts to the floor. What a pain that is!

Are you planning to put on some leather skin on the steering wheel? I was thinking of having it ivory-colored, to match the knobs, but receive the wrong color leather - too dark. Goes well with my old sun-burned knobs, but not with the new ones I might get some day ?

And now the door thresholds

Originals or replications would be nice..but as I am cheap I discovered a black vinyl commercial carpet/wall cove worked great.

Nice look and a good idea. A couple of questions...

Does the matt go on top of the carpet or just butted to it?

And glued on or?

Good idea!  I will now. :^)  Especially since I was too lazy to restore the steering wheel when I had it off.

Well, how would you restore that, paint? New plastic? These seems to be either low quality or very expensive solutions ? The skin, on the other hand, could be a good-looking alternative, especially since them wheel covers became rather popular on cars, a bit later. I was thinking about using a thin ivory leather with a simple hidden seam. Do not like those baseball or other seams with multiple threads, used on modern cars.

Did you plug the holes that held the rubber grommets to secure the original door thresholds?

Carpet looks great. Is this a kit or did you fabricate it yourself?

while I could buy carpet kits for this particular car...the transmission hump and tunnels pieces are sloppily made and does not hug or fit and the carpets are more in line with a woolen mat than real carpet but the killer on buying a kit was No one provided the carpet in the color I wanted much less a closed loop.   I ended up buying my material and sewing my own to conform to the curves and sewed my own binding.  This laying carpet if typical of the manufacturer.

Thank you!  Like Plymouthy, I also sewed up my own.  Just one big T slit at the hump allowed me to keep the front as one big piece.  I used 4 yards.
