Mertz Posted September 16, 2021 Report Posted September 16, 2021 I just finished the paint job on my engine. I used aluminum engine paint from Duplicolor and VHT. I still need to install the valve cover and head gaskets. I will start bolting on some of my accessories once the paint has cured. Most are painted with appliance epoxy in black. 3 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 17, 2021 Report Posted September 17, 2021 good deal....I like it that a person takes a minute to detail out an item or area.......can't handle cut corners......in that second picture....that is a lot of engine for that car sitting behind it don't you think? Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted September 17, 2021 Report Posted September 17, 2021 Great paint! Nice model "G" Electrolux with beater bar cable cord!? Those suck like crazy! Quote
ggdad1951 Posted September 17, 2021 Report Posted September 17, 2021 Nice! Just know it will never be as pretty as this again! 12 years later, even with a careful application of POR15 silver, FEF's engine (while still clean) is getting patina. Quote
Mertz Posted September 17, 2021 Author Report Posted September 17, 2021 The car behind it is 1974 1/2 260Z built in October with the 15 mph bumpers installed on the 1975 Zs. It has a rare white interior. It has plenty of engine with the added Weber’s. The vacuum really does suck. It is one of the better and most durable ever made. I would have liked the paint to be grayer like it looks coming out of the can. I thought about repainting it black and using the aluminum over the top. Not worried about patina, I liked the aged look. Quote
ggdad1951 Posted September 17, 2021 Report Posted September 17, 2021 it will likely oxidize/patina a bit duller/greyer Quote
chrysler1941 Posted September 17, 2021 Report Posted September 17, 2021 Looks nice. What's the riveted unpainted plate for? Is it a truck thing? Quote
JBNeal Posted September 17, 2021 Report Posted September 17, 2021 My guess is that was a rebuild tag, I've seen them mounted there, above the generator, and behind the starter. Quote
Mertz Posted September 17, 2021 Author Report Posted September 17, 2021 It’s a tag stating that it is an industrial engine and has some serial numbers on it. I believe it might have been used to pump water. 1 Quote
