9-5-21:

Out for a quick cruise and a stop at Fleet Farm for some acetone.  Need to mix in a little tranny fluid and get some bolts loose on my other '48.

My brother had my B1C for about a month so he could enjoy it and teach his son how to drive it.  Happy to have it back.

"Hey Bud, what's up?"

"Not much, just hanging out at the pad."

Just got back from a night cruise around town.  Lots of people looking; I imagine my truck looks even more strange at night.

My accelerator linkage is binding up a little bit, making it hard to accelerate. Will check into that tomorrow morning.

I found reference in the shop manual lubrication section about adding drops of oil to linkages, pivots, etc.  Did this a couple times a year to throttle, choke, parking brake, and door latch mechanisms, and noticed the difference right away.

I needed to be reminded of these things, I'm not smart enough to think of it on my own.  Truth

And here's why my speedometer doesn't work. This is the transmission side....

Out for a night cruise with my son.  I needed to unwind a bit.  The sound of the truck always calms me.  At Kwik Trip for hot egg rolls ?

After work my son and I loaded the truck with grass clippings, sticks, etc. and headed out for the city compost.  Light duty for the truck, but useful nonetheless. ?

Removed the speedometer cable tonight and ordered a new one from DCM.  Also went for a short cruise around town.  Got the blower fan for the heater working again.  Just a loose wire. ?

Out for a cruise with my daughter. The first picture shows Veteran's Park in the background.  The one memorial that you can see is for the Korean war.

Pic 2: back at home on the pad.  No problems, the truck ran well.  I'll have to look into adjusting that speedometer so it rests at 0 though.

Out hauling brush and grass clippings to the compost.  The nicely painted truck you see is someone I ran into that was cruising around. They've owned the truck for 45 years. It has a 355 engine, Camaro front end, and a Cadillac rear end all to make it more streetable. It sounded nice with dual exhaust. I talked to them for about 5 minutes.

Later my daughter and I stopped at Veteran's Park by the lake.

Back at home again.  I copied what I had done in the Meadowbrook and put a wool blanket down on the seat.  This one is a World War II Navy blanket that I got for $10 at a flea market.  All I had to do was fold it in half and tuck it in. Now we don't slide around or get burned by a hot seat.

10-14:

Filled up with gas today, 14 and 1/2 gallons in the last 5 weeks.  Also greased all the moving parts on both sides of the hood, which it really needed. Both front tires were down to 20 lb, and pumping them back up to 35 lb solved my hard steering problem.  It also needed a quart of oil.  My son and I cruised around for a little bit and cycled the heater.  It works pretty good but smells old. I don't think it's ever been taken apart.  The picture is right after I backed in and shut her down for the night.

Hauling grass/weeds, etc. to the compost with the B1C.  Perfect autumn day!  Truck ran great.

Also, the B1C served as my transport to Verizon to get my phone looked at ?

I love this truck doing tasks. I love that it smells old. Great bed for hauling. Up high in the cab for a great view where to back up to dump off brush-clippings. You make me miss my ‘48. My ‘48 came from a cemetery as it hauled marker stones. It had a steel bed with no tailgate. Just a couple 2x12’s that would slide in/out. One stout rear suspension.  Ha. But one thing it had, an upright stock tube radio that was awesome to listen to. Thing was huge inside the dash. AM radio in the early 70’s was still good!  Happy cruisin!

Mom made me sell it because my dad found a 64 1/2 mustang which I still have. Mom said no 18 yr old kid is going to have 2 cars around here. Make your choice. Well damn. I’m 18. It’s 1973.  I enjoyed the dodge 2-3 yrs and sold it to a workmate at the lumberyard who drove a ‘47 dodge 1/2 ton. I loved that truck as well.  It got to be too much...missed trucks so bad I found the ‘36 I have now in 1974 and tortured my mom by fixing it in the garage until I moved from Sacramento up to Chico. Mom had to eat crow

Out for a cruise with the kids. Full moon and really nice calm weather. A Navy friend of mine died today, he had a long battle with cancer. I'd like to say I got some relief by driving this old truck. Going to miss him. ?

The picture is right after I backed in for the night.

Saturday 10-23-21:

Trimmed 2 truckloads of brush/weeds/trees, etc. from the fence line between my house and the neighbor's.  The B1C faithfully hauled it all to the compost.  Wife went with on the first trip.  Sha hadn't ridden in the truck previously.  She liked it...who wouldn't on such a gorgeous fall day?!
