Out for a cruise with the kids. The truck ran good.  I had a problem with my blinkers when we were close to home again. They won't blink unless you operate the lever manually.

Have you verified they aren't blinking outside and it's not just the indicator having issues? My truck has a very erratic indicator light but from my checking is always blinking at the lights

They're not blinking outside. We did verify that. So I'm going to have to look at that aftermarket switch mounted to the steering wheel, which is super old.

If you end up hunting for a new one I'd put in a plug for a signal stat 900. Only well made modern unit I've run across

Out to pick up my daughter from work and go to the parts store for a new flasher.  $6 later, my blinkers are back in business.  Got a few thumbs up, and even had an early 70's Dodge dart follow me for a little while before turning off 😋

Thanks again to everyone for the tips and advice, I really appreciate it!

Out for an evening cruise downtown with the kids.  Lots of people dressed up wandering around. We cycled the heater on and off as it was just chilly enough.  Here we are parked in the neighbor's driveway dropping off some snacks for my wife.  What an awesome night to cruise around in the old Dodge 😊

Out to the compost to haul our carved pumpkins away.  It was a real joy to drive the truck. The heater works good.

Out for a cruise tonight by myself.  Stopped for gas.  Washed the windows.  3rd gear mostly; about 20mph.

Things to work on:

-fuel guage (stuck on full)

-speedometer (rests way below zero at a stop)

-look into replacing hood straps.... speaking of which, anyone have suggestions on replacements?  See pic

Wow mine doesn’t have hood straps how do they work? Mine has struts that unfold over center to hold up the hood when it’s open.

The props hold the hood open, the straps limit the travel of the hood.

Without the straps you're two hood halves could fold in far enough to touch each other.

Took the truck out for a short drive before backing it into the garage. Then my son and I made out a list of to do's.  It's nice to see the B1C and B1D side by side.  No pics tonight, sorry.

Hey fellas, quick question on the steering box.  I was looking at the exploded view in my manual and I don't see a drain hole?  There must be one, yes?  My gosh I'm bad with blueprints. 🤭

I want to try that corn head grease.

B1C needed a new battery.  Got that done, then did some alley cruising with my son looking for old cars.  Spotted a mid-60s Buick and an early 80s Impala or Caprice.  The truck's heater was nice.  It was super chilly.  I really enjoyed driving the truck, listening to the whine of the transmission, the steady purr of the engine, and feeling the smoothness of every turn.  My son mentioned he likes the sound of the transmission.  Here we are post-alley getting a snack. 😊

Part of our cruise took us down by the lake.  Second pic is after our cruise in the garage.  Sorry I had to crop the heck out of the photos...the site is only allowing 1.53mg or less instead of 3?  Not sure why.

11-20:

Thanks to Dave72dt I have new hood straps.  Someone mentioned 17" for the length.  That was a no-go, at least for my truck. 18 1/2 inches was about perfect.  I burned the ends of the straps to keep them from fraying, and took a hammer and punch to the cowl bracket on the driver side as it was all bent up.  The last picture is the old straps.
