Kojak Posted December 24, 2020 Report Posted December 24, 2020 Hi guys and gals thanks for the add I just recently got the car of my dreams and am anxious to get it started. But before I do so I need a few parts, most importantly the trunk deck lid. If I'm not abel to get an original could I some how put two ends off a club coupe and add the center.? Any ideas my friends? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 24, 2020 Report Posted December 24, 2020 post a classified ad on here....hit the wrecking yards.....not an everyday item but probably out there... Quote
MarcDeSoto Posted December 24, 2020 Report Posted December 24, 2020 I believe the deck lid is the same part on all Mopar 46-48 3 window coupes. So you don't necessarily have to find a Dodge unless you need the parts that attach to the deck lid also. Quote
casper50 Posted December 24, 2020 Report Posted December 24, 2020 I had to make one out of two. The original was rusted on the bottom. The 2nd one I found was sitting in a barn with the top on the ground leaning against the wall so the top was rusted. 2 Quote
MarcDeSoto Posted December 24, 2020 Report Posted December 24, 2020 Wow, you really have to have some metal skills to pull that off. Good work! Quote
knuckleharley Posted December 24, 2020 Report Posted December 24, 2020 BTW,did you also paint your car? That is one slick paint job! Quote
casper50 Posted December 24, 2020 Report Posted December 24, 2020 Yes my first time using metallic paint. My 2nd paint job. Quote
Sniper Posted December 24, 2020 Report Posted December 24, 2020 Did you talk to the guys at French Lake Auto? They have a lot of old stuff. I am getting a core 230 to build and shipping, with liftgate service was reasonable. I know someone else got an entire front suspension with frame from them recently. http://www.frenchlakeautoparts.com/contact.htm Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted December 24, 2020 Report Posted December 24, 2020 If you lived in the Seattle area I could fix you right up with a NOS 1941 Chrysler trunk lid....same except for license stop lamp holes. Quote

casper50 Posted December 24, 2020 Report Posted December 24, 2020 I've found out that a good paint job is 80% body prep. Quote

Yup,the tedious, unglamourous work that most people don't even relalize is essential, and even most of the people who do suspect all the work involved, just don't care about. Everybody wants to cut corners and get a bargain price. It just ain't possible. Quote
