JSabah Posted August 24, 2018 Report Posted August 24, 2018 I was taking my engine to be gone thru and didn’t have it blocked/strapped properly and when another idiot cut me off I hit the brakes and the engine rolled. Now I need to replace either the base of the carburetor or the whole carb. (Carter /Ball and Ball D6H2). Any ideas other than eBay of what to do? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 24, 2018 Report Posted August 24, 2018 as this is just the base...maybe a bit of TIG welding is in order... Quote
JSabah Posted August 24, 2018 Author Report Posted August 24, 2018 Looked like pot metal (but I’m not sure - I’ll have to look better) ... can pot metal be welded? I have some higher temp solder (google muggy weld) but not sure of the strength Quote
JBNeal Posted August 24, 2018 Report Posted August 24, 2018 I bought an eBay carb for 10 bucks, rebuilt it and ran it for over 5 years Quote

Dodgeb4ya Posted August 24, 2018 Report Posted August 24, 2018 A very common carburetor...try Neil Riddle in Seattle 206-285-6534.... he might have a good one or a re- build able core. 1 Quote

JSabah Posted August 26, 2018 Author Report Posted August 26, 2018 Thanks for the help here gents. After 2+ years of woodwork, I am on the the next step of what I know equally little of .... paint/floor replacement (by other professionals) and then putting it all back together. This is where I’m at after replacing about 1/2 the cars wood. 7 Quote
