The neighbor kid just came over wanting to borrow my jumper cables. Problem is I dont own any and have not had any for several years. So I thought I would poll the collective brain trust on battery cable ownership.

Cables 2 sets and a Jumper pack. All left over from Ice Racing. Last I used them was to get the lawnmower going before getting a new battery for it.

Don...when you have kids and often a wife or two that are not what you call real keen on turning off headlights...well..cable are nice..plus I often time need them here on the place with various other cars that how we say don't get driven but once or twice a year...nuff said plus I even have a special set made for on the road with the motorcycles..so YES..about 5 sets...now NOrm..I know he don't..and if he did they only need to be a couple feet long..(short driveway)

Don......my battery cables are firmly attached to my battery.

I presume you are actually inquiring about "jumper cables".....of which I also have a pair.

I have a 12ft. set of booster cables that I made in 1973 out of #2 welding cable. Also have a set that came with the D25 and a 12v. power pack. I have never used either on my own vehicles, but have used them quite often for neighbours and others on the road.

Now Tim, I wasn't even in on this one yet and you gotta cut on me and say I don't have any cables.

I do have a real nice heavy duty long set, with the covering that keeps them from getting stiff in the winter. Use to carry them in the car. Did lend them to a couple people at the office once or twice. However, I've never used them myself. Only time I had a dead battery in the driveway, I got in one of the other cars and went and bought another one, so didn't need to jump the battery. A battery only needs to fail me once in any kind of weather and it's history. Wife left her dome light on once in her old Sundance so her battery went down because of that. Still did not use the jumper cables though. Just got the battery charger out and jumped the car with it. Much easier that way. If you have all those cars around you should invest in a battery charger to jump the cars with. It's much easier than jockeying cars around to do it.:)

The cables haven't been in my car since the late 90's. Ever since then, they've been hanging on the garage wall collecting dust.

I also have about 500 feet of heavy duty outdoor extension cords. So, even if the car is parked in front of the house on the street, I can reach it with the battery charger to jump it. The extension cords are on a roll up hose reel so they are also easy to unroll and roll back up.

I have a set in each car (5) plus 2 sets plus a jump pack in the shop. 2 sets I won at car shows, and the rest our daughter bought me one year for Christmas, because I could not find a set when she left her lights on.

Tim, I always say if you're going to give it out, you better be ready to take a little ribbing.:) Life's too short to be serious all the time, gotta have a little fun.

I don't have a big roll around charger either. Would be nice, but as I've mentioned before, I'm short on space. I just have a small little bench charger/jumper. Does the job though, and that's all that counts. Think I only paid around $40 or $50 for it new back in the 90's. Charges both 6 volt and 12 volt batteries. Jumper part only works off the 12 Volt side though. Also has a meter on it so you can check the battery.

Your white Charger looks nice.

I have one set in my daily driver (company) pickup. One (light weight) set in my motorcycle. At least 2 sets in my garage, 1 of them I made out of 0 gauge welding cable, 30' long with 300 amp clamps, when I was a full time field service technician on construction equipment. And 1 jumper pack. Plus one 2/10 amp 6/12 volt battery charger, one 6/12 volt 1 amp motorcycle battery charger, and 3 battery tender chargers.

I don't much care for dead batteries.

Norm...Your white Charger looks nice....It is an Eagle Vision TSI...LH platform car and introduced in 1993...it has a very rich history per say...back in them days Chrysler owned Lambroghini...you see this concept car picture on the site link and then look at the LH series..lots of them features rolled forward. The Portofino never made it to produciton and is a one-of car.

One other car that I surely would have loved to see Chysler put into production...

Tim,

Ok. As you can tell I'm not much into the newer cars. Anything after the 70's all look alike to me. I do have a model of I think it's called the Chrysler Atlantic (have to look at the box:confused: ). Sort of looks like the gold car in your picture. One of the few plastic models I have. The only reason I have it is because it was given to me. Not much into any of the foreign cars regardless of age.

Don I have 2 pair and one I make Carol carry. The jump pack is the thing to have now. We were in the Savanna cemetery where they filmed Garden of Good and Evil and the tour bus battery died. It was closing time and we were about to get locked in for the night. I went scouting and flagged down a SUV from Texas. His 400 amp jump pack was dead but charged in about 30 minutes and kicked over the bus on the first try. Convenient and impressive. If you do the good old boy way no cables needed just invert the good onto the dead on while installed. I'd push start my P-15 if needed. Frank

Well, this redneck guy decided to climb the social ladder by going to an upscale restaurant that featured big band dancing. Unfortunately, he did upscale his attire and walked up to the hostess and asked to be seated at table with a view of the dance floor so he could enjoy all of the pretty ladies while they danced. The hostess took one look at him and informed him that gentlemen were required to have neckware and since he didn't, he couldn't gain entry. He went out to his truck and found his trusty jumper cables which he sorta fashioned around his neck and went back to the hostess desk to ask for a table with a view. The hostess looked at him warily and said, okay, you do have some kinda neckware on and I'll let you, but don't start anything.

And with that one, I'll bid all a good night.

Believe it or not, I still use the same 12' commercial set I bought in 1967 when I had my repair shop. They're still in great condition!
