Franklyn49 Posted August 22, 2016 Report Posted August 22, 2016 Searched around a bit and cannot find the answer. Can anyone tell me the size of the rear outer axle nut on my 1949 plymouth? I'm at work now and hope to remove the drums with puller etc this eve, but must gather tools from here prior, and I'm forgetting what the size is. Quote

_shel_ny Posted August 22, 2016 Report Posted August 22, 2016 Last one I pulled was 1 1/4". Take 2 wrenches Quote
belvedere666 Posted August 23, 2016 Report Posted August 23, 2016 i used an adjustable pipe wrench. it's sturdy enough to take a hammer and it grips like a vise 1 Quote
Reg Evans Posted August 23, 2016 Report Posted August 23, 2016 I've always just used one of these. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 23, 2016 Report Posted August 23, 2016 personally at 140+ foot lbs (140 when tightened and what ever rust resistance issue have accumulated since) I would strongly recommend at minimum a 6 point socket and a healthy breaker bar..be kind to yourself and the nut....most standard 1/2 drive socket largest socket is 1 1/4 crescent wrenches work best on heads with loose tongues... 1 Quote
