Chrysler bought controlling shares of Rootes Group and continued production of ford powered Tigers till engine supplies ran out.  They had experimented with installing the Mopar 273 in the Alpine but fitment issues prevented production.  The tiger was dropped in early 67.

Buddy of mine had one back in the early 70's.  Fun, fun ride!  Another buddy had the Alpine version, no so fun

I had two Alpines in the late 60's and mid 70's. Not both at the same time. Fun cars but a lot of upkeep. I still regret not having enough money to trade my 66 Alpine and $1000 for a 66 Tiger. Back then $1000 was real money
