I would like to convert my 50 SD to Scarebird Disc Kit, seems to be easier than drill and tap spindle optional kits. My question is ARE ALL 50 PLY SD Vehicles 3 BOLT SPINDLE an 10 INCH  BRAKE DRUM Seems this kit requires this,  Thanks for any help, Stan

If the kit requires a particular setup on your vehicle then you best verify that you have 'that' setup. The only way to verify is to visually inspect and measure for 'that' requirement...

I believe the scarebird kit uses ford probe rotors and chevy celebrity calipers, my initial concern is that it seems a little undersized for a heavy old car. I am really impressed with AAJ after talking with the guy. He uses 1970's dodge rotors and 70's gm big car calipers. I like the beefy idea better

Don't know but I have a set of their brakes on the rear of my dodge.  Bought them used but AAJ sent me a copy of their instructions and parts list no problem.  They went on easy with no problems either.

just  recently  did a disc conversion on a 1940  plymouth, we used a rusty hope  kit, it used  volare rotors which fit a number of other mopars, easy to get,,,great kit  also used full size GM calipers,,,seems to be a lot  of choices for  disc conversion,,,

any one  use a rear conversion on an 8 /34 rear ?

Its done, Jeep rotors and celebrity caliper and brakes. Pretty simple and straight forward, cadilac brake hoses, challenger bearin in back and a other Chrysler model for the front bearing about 600 or 650 for all

I have been driving my Desoto for a couple of weeks with the front and rear disc brake kit from AAJ Brakes and very happy with it!  Tapping the spindles wasn't horrible.

Hey Swaluda, I have a '50 bus. coupe and will be using the same kit. Did the instuctions call for the caddy brake hoses and challenger bearings or did you just piece those yourself?

do you by any chance have an 8 3/4 rear ?  if so  whats all  encluded in his kit ? thanks

Hmm, good question.  It has the stock rear end which I think is the 8 3/4.  Let me dig and find pictures of the install.  It was VERY easy and straightforward.

looks like a simple  kit,,,im guessing you  bought the  brackets from aaj ?  and  the  rest off the  shelf  parts from a list  ???

I've ran into a few unmentioned issues with my front disk conversion. The big issue now is that the recommend front brake hoses are too short to reach when the car is jacked up, aside from that the recommend hoses are 3/16 thread and my car is 7/16-24, i just ordered more hoses and an adapter to make them work on the car.

The second issue i had was with all the grinding you have to do to make the rotor clear the spindle, aaj sends a sleeve that increases the inner bearing seat and seal diameter. After installing the kit it looks to me that he could have spaced the adapter out to move the whole hub assembly out a 1/4 of an inch to avoid the grinding of the spindle. There are spacers that are included that move the caliper bracket in, if the bearing adapter was spaced out and the caliper bracket spaces were not as thick everything could be moved out enough to avoid trimming you spindles down. But that's just my beer fueled opinion.
