I've been thinking of going with red for my wheels...the poor boy hubcabs still have a trace of red on them...thinking I'll restore the red on them and on some of the badgeing...I like to pick a theme and use it throughout the vehicle...thinking I might use the red for tasteful accents as the theme for this truck.

I guess it was Dave that first made that suggestion. Thanks Dave.

At any rate it was the exchange of ideas here that helped me make this decision......and that is one of the best things about this site.

Jeff

Exactly, 1 of the reasons for this thread, an exchange of info, taste and suggestion.

I respond well to suggestions, and most suggestions on this forum, are well meant and logical, some are not, there bias opinions, pardon the pun..

what is a personal like but a biased opinion...lol  there are plenty of people here who care not for my preferred use of late model allow wheels...but then I build to suit myself...

I like the alloy wheels Tim, on certain applications, what you are building looks good from my place. I might consider some alloy wheel and radials for my truck too, have to be something I like. I do not have to have stock wheels and hubcaps, it would be nice but Fargo caps are very hard to attain a good set of 4...

I do not recall ever seeing a set of Fargo hubcaps in all the swap meets I have attended..so Yeah..I can well see that they may be a bit tough to come by a set and a set in very nice condition..probably run quite a bit of cash

I wouldn't expect to see many as far south as you are. Along the northern border and parts north ,I would expect to see them more often.

Maybe, but They are as rare as hens teeth I have discovered, finding in preemo shape you will pay big buck$ for them. They made a whole lot less of these than Dodges..

I did some checking and it seems that the Fargo hubcaps that you had over there appear the same that we had here in Oz. They do appear at swap meets here from time to time so I'll keep an eye out for you Rockwood.

I was going to attach a couple of thumbnail photos for you but I seem to have some sort of attachment problem/error - not sure why as photos were appropriately sized.

Thanx for keeping me in mind.

In terms of my own taste, it depends on the individual truck.  White walls on a truck can look great, though I wouldn't feel like they "belonged" unless the truck was a commercial or business vehicle that would have had them at the time.  Otherwise, it's like putting on dress shoes when you're wearing overalls.  For a farm truck like mine, I prefer solid black tires.  Red, black, body color rims can all look good and are all valid (unless you're a factory purist).  I think that body color rims look pretty smart, and a drop shade (going a shade lighter or darker) can look even better.

it seems that my picture posting issue is fixed. First photo is a couple that I found for a friend here in Oz recently (the one on the left looked like the other before a polish). Second photo is one that I saw on the internet on a truck over closer to you.

I went with red rims on my car, added WWW's,repainted the red on the hub caps as well. I had spare rims so I kept the original with the 3 grey stripes so I can go back if desired.

It gives the car some shine, draws your eyes away from the original paint.

Those look to be the same hubcaps I have on my truck.  Mine have just a hint of the original red.  After seeing yours I'm sure I want to restore the red on mine.  Now to decide on red or black for the wheels or chrome trim rings or both.

and what is the "Dodge Truck Cream" color I keep hearing about ?

Is there a PPG paint code for that ?

Thanks,

Hank  :)

Hank:

Some time ago I used the search function and came up with 4 leads. I took them to my PPG dealer and the only one that crossed was RAL1014, He mixed a 4 oz. sample and it looked correct. It is DCC 920398 acrylic urethane. I will attach (I hope) two photos.
