Plymouthy Adams Posted November 26, 2013 Report Posted November 26, 2013 not sure of the trucks but on the cars you have the option of tall pedal position or wide pedal position by loosening the nut and rotating the pedal pads.. Quote
ggdad1951 Posted November 26, 2013 Report Posted November 26, 2013 no re-positioning on the trucks Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 26, 2013 Report Posted November 26, 2013 (edited) ...did not know..but thought worth mentioning.. Edited November 26, 2013 by Plymouthy Adams Quote
RobRobitaille Posted November 26, 2013 Report Posted November 26, 2013 (edited) My truck has a bendix starter I'm not sure what its from but I could pull it and take some pics. Maybe someone could identify it if your interested in looking for one. All they did was add a ford starter solenoid to the fender with a push button. Edited November 26, 2013 by RobRobitaille Quote
Merle Coggins Posted November 26, 2013 Report Posted November 26, 2013 I would think that if you got a starter from a late 40's - early 50's Plymouth or Dodge car it should bolt up and work as you want. I believe there was a tooth count change on the ring gear somewhere in the early to mid 50's so you need to be cautious of that. Quote
Jeff Balazs Posted November 26, 2013 Author Report Posted November 26, 2013 I kinda remember looking at this when I first started working on my project. Seems to me there was something about it that made it a pita. Either the tooth count or interference... or 12V versus 6V. I think I will just work on getting my foot better educated. Jeff Quote

I believe the pedal elevation is the same no matter how the pads are mounted. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted November 26, 2013 Report Posted November 26, 2013 The pedal pads on the trucks are integral to the levers. There is no way to change their orientation without cuting them off and rewelding them. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 26, 2013 Report Posted November 26, 2013 center stays the same but the oval on a left to right is less in height that than vertical position.. Quote

Young Ed Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 Jeff if you want a 6v starter anything 55 and older from a plymouth car should do you well. You could do a p15 style setup with a push button start or just convert to a key start. Quote
Jeff Balazs Posted November 27, 2013 Author Report Posted November 27, 2013 I am sure I can get my foot used to this arrangement. I am thinking it might get a bit bothersome in stop and go LA traffic though. Just one more reason to get the flock out of here........................... Jeff Quote
