The more the merrier I say!

At the past BBQ's, the front/side of the house was where the parking took place.

I've moved the parking to an open field so there's more room for more trucks.

There seems to be an increase of trucks by "word of mouth" this year...I'll be interested to see

how many actually show up.

LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AWAY!!!

Are you okay with freeway driving? If I'm on my own I'd be coming east on CA237 to I-680 to I-580. Probably some reasonable rendezvous someplace there.

Does that mean your Plymouth is staying home? :(

No, if I come (fairly good chance) it will be in the Plymouth.

For just getting somewhere I often hop on the freeway. Right lane at 60 or so MPH. But I've found that a lot of people don't want to take their older vehicles on the freeway at all so I figure I ought to ask.

Couple of ideas for Tim to make his BBQ better.

Tim should build this to make the lawn mower races a bit more exciting.

Here is a quick and easy way to cook them wieners.

I don't know what he is doing for relief stations but some air condition would be nice.

Also balcony seating would be a big plus.

And finally this would make PP feel right at home.

Don, if it was a ferd or chebby, I'd do that, make it into a fire box. But I've got too much respect for Mopars. I do like that motorcycle mower, be a great way to interest a boy in mowing a large lawn.  Maybe mid day, make a pot of coffee, throw a Polish sausage in, a bun on top and . . . have a snack.

I took a house 5/8" water hose with a good strong power nozzle and rinsed off one side of the truck. Then I used maroon brillo pad and boroxo, then a area with white wall/alloy wheel cleaner, then Orange hand soap and gave the three areas a nice Sunday afternoon scrub. I will get me some 1000 grit wet/sand an oscillating sander and give this truck a real scrub, after I have Steam cleaned it.  Baring something else that's unforeseen, I'll drive it to the BBQ!

If you want to see the results you will have to be at the BBQ that is if 48 D will let me in. No pictures before the BBQ,  but trust me this will be wild!

A few things....

Just got word that the Fire Department that owns the 1947 Dodge Fire truck is trying to get it trailered down to the BBQ. I'm going to be talking with one the head guys who takes care of it. A few years ago they were debating on wether or not to fully restore it with a new paint job and all that. They asked me to write an estimate for the work. I wrote a long letter explaining why they should leave it alone. The main reason? Kids. The area where the truck is viewed is open to a hands on experience, and the kids love it. I think they already knew that, but were curious about painting it. With all the life left in the old laquer paint job, and the hand painted lettering.....let it wait. They've tried before to make the event, but this time sounds like they may actually do it...

This Friday I'm heading up to Eagles Nest Airport in Ione, Ca to make a little noise about our event....in May they will have their first Car and Air show, so I'm hoping I can drum up a little interest in a fly-by of some vintage War Planes at our deal. Its not really something impossiple....some of those guys barn storm our huge oak trees for fun, lol. Quite a few planes that show at the Planes of Fame in Chino, Ca call Eagles Nest home......

we'll see what happens..... ^_^

Ok....my bad...its a 1939 Fire Truck. Located in Sutter Creek, Ca.

Here's the website from the Amador County Historical Society. The truck is shown on page two of the article.

I work in Amador County which is considered the foothills, home to a lot of former mining towns of the gold rush era, Sutter Creek, Jackson, Amador City, etc. They were mostly populated by former American soldiers from the Mexican American war (1846-1848) who were lucky enough to still be here when gold was discovered in 1848. The History here is interesting because it involves the Gold Rush(1949), the Mex/Am War, and the "wild" West in general.

The Fire Truck is well documented and has a few guys who really enjoy taking care of it. Really hope they make it.

Hey there folks,

Is there any interest in getting pin striping done on your trucks?  I arranged for an artist to come to the BBQ to do striping on my Route Van and he will be available to do other rigs if wanted or interested?  His name is Ron Miller and I met him at the Autorama in Sacramento last weekend.  He is coming to the BBQ because it is easier for him to come there instead of Napa.

Thanks,

Richard

Cool stuff Don....really tested my eyesight too. lol

Pinstripping? Sure, if he wants to bring his stuff and offer his services, we'll make room.

The parking lot area is almost done, but the yardwork is way behind. The rains came and is making the weeds grow (which of course grows faster than the grass) so I have to get to spraying the fence lines and "show" area.

ITS GETTING CLOSE!!!! ONE MONTH!!! GET WRENCHING!!!!! ^_^

Hey left coasters, why not have a work day on Saturday the 29th and help Tim with the details? I'm in if that works for Tim.

Most of the heavy stuff will be done before then....I'm working on the Trophies right now and making time for the sprayer.

Seems most of the real help I need is the day before or the day of.....and so far its hasn't been a problem. But hey, if anyone

wants to stop by and lend a hand...I'll find something for you to do. lol

I'm your huckleberry on Friday.

Ditto for Friday, as stated (unless Mark can bust it all out on his own). I might even be able to drag Katy along if needed!

I'm available most of the week before and for sure on Friday (my particular specialty is going to the dump/landfill... :)).  Friday is  also "Squeeze Inn" day with Merle, et al.
