When you say "everything" does that mean the engine was bored with fresh pistons or the cylinder ring groove cut and then honed? Cast or moly rings? I've seen the sludge before when the cylinders have a lot of taper or when the intake valves are too loose in the guides. The spark plugs seem to have a bit of glaze on the very end of the porcelain and what appears to be greenish yellow spots on the chambers may just be reflections of the flash on the camera. As far as the bubbles, thread sealant was used on head bolts that went into the water jackets? How about bubbles in the radiator? All six cylinders the same? Head retorqued after running?

Once a month at our local NW region Chrysler club meetings back in the 70's and 80's I used to show one of those Mr Tech training and car sales records and filmstrips. I have most all of them from 1947 through 1954.

Yes Mr Tech is da man!!!

Dodgeb4ya, the Online Imperial Club is digitising and placing on their website as many of the MTSC films they can get. They've got quite a few, but if you have any they're missing, I'm sure they'd appreciate a loan.

Cheers

The bubbles at the side of the head is common after a rebuild depending on type and amount of sealer used. IMO a non issue. I'd drive it.

A-ha.... now I get it.  Thought the trip through  America was being done in one of Don's cars.  Understand now it is Billie's car.  Did not know that it was the engine from this thread.  So what was the up-shot of the discolored head?
