Jeff Balazs Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 Last night my wife and I went out for dinner at our local Lucilles BBQ. Had a great time....good food, too many libations and live Blues / Rock music. What could be better? The band was tight and played a lot of my favorite music....Allman Brothers....Stevie Ray....BB King etc..... so I thanked them and gave them a good tip before they started the next set. Much to my surprise they finished the set up with a rousing version of what else? but "Ramble On" Perfect.....that has to be the right name for my truck. Jeff Quote

seabee Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 I think every respectable vehicle has a justifiable name. Our car is has not been restored, paint is a little rough, she squeaks and rattles a little when we roll down the road. But we love it the way it is! My wife commented that it reminds her of a pirate ship. We have since named her "Jolly Roger". Quote

Jeff Balazs Posted August 26, 2013 Author Report Posted August 26, 2013 Exactly. At least for the older stuff. Can't imagine naming any of the look alike new stuff. Ram-ble on it is and forever shall be. It had a couple of other names during some of my struggles ...... but we won't talk about that here. John; It is funny but that name El Toro has just about gone by the wayside now. I would bet that most of the denizens now don't know a thing about the days when cattle roamed the hills around here. I have a vivid memory of being out for a Sunday ride on my old Norton and having to stop and wait for a herd to cross the canyon road up near Cooks Corner. Those days are long gone now. Replaced by strip malls & chain stores, high density housing and folks who think they are living the California dream. They don't even have a clue what that was like. Just like the name El Toro it is rapidly becoming a distant memory. Jeff Quote
