MT-d100
Looking for suggestions for dealing with a rotted rubber shift boot for a '58 d100 (4 on floor). The original one fits over a metal retainer that attaches to the tunnel hole via clips (see pic below) and is an odd size as far as I can tell. My parts cataloge shows it in a pic (called a shift seal) , but has no part number. My guess is that a replacement part can't be found---any ideas for an alternative that might work (and have an original look). Many thanks! Merle Coggins
Have you checked with Vintage Power Wagons? They also specialize in Power Giant trucks like yours. They have a banner add above. Merle
MT-d100
Merle- Thanks for the suggestion. I did check their catalog, not listed. (FYI- I sent them a question about another part ages ago---they never responded...I guess they are more focused on the military side). Best- Kurt
Merle Coggins
Maybe give them a call. They are good people. If they don't have one, they may have a suggestion where you might find one. Merle
MT-d100
Will do, thanks.
Young Ed
Another thought is to check out some ford and chevy supply places of a similar vintage. You might find something close that will work.
MT-d100
Good idea on looking to Ford/Chevy, thanks
Alshere59
Well a quick search in Google found this. Not knowing what the original looked like before it failed this may or may not be close for dimensions. I typed in oval shifter boot. https://travelallparts.com/products/?view=product&product_id=14301
Don Coatney
If originality is not a concern there are many boots available in junk yards that should work.
Plymouthy Adams
our buddy E-bay has these by just typing in universal floor shift boot... http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIVERSAL-SHIFTER-BOOT-SMALL-5-INCH-BY-6-INCH-/171081873089?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27d54636c1&vxp=mtr Edited August 6, 2013 by Plymouthy Adams
MT-d100
More great suggestions! I am trying to keep the "well-aged" look, so the junkyard sounds like a particularly good option. Thanks all. Kurt
Scruffy49
Get the square one with floor mount that has a couple cup holders out of a mid 90s Ranger or Dakota... kidding, but they do work fine. If you wanted fancy, Lokar or Gennie Shifter Company.

Don that looks like a nice Chevy S-10 boot and transmission if I'm not mistaken.
