OldDad67 Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 I've almost got the wife talked into raising my allowance so I can get some seat covers. But I don't know what I want. I was hoping the good guys on this site might provide some photo's of their covers so I might have something to show her. All photo's and suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance. Quote

Plymouthy Adams Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 I did not see the "don't want stock" in the original post. but yet...these covers are for that exact shape and size seat..and as these are slip on covers they go over whatever you have existing...they are quick and easy and will give you a look that is correct for the period of car...you can also buy an inexpensive set and use them as a pattern to allow you to pick and chose you material and make a nice slip cover from available fabrics...from old Navaho blankets some groups just go ape about right to a very conservative look...but either way there is an initial layout of coin and a bit of work..maybe the wife could even stitch you a set on the home machine...simple covers are not that difficult...get you by till you find just what you looking for.. The only thing my wife would stitch up if I ask would be my mouth. She doesn't even own a machine anymore. I'm probably going to go with a vynal cover of some kind but I don't know what stying would look good, therefore the request for some photo's to give me some ideas. Quote
Don Coatney Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 As Tim said there are lots of options on ebay http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=vintage+seat+covers&_osacat=140727&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.Xvintage+seat+covers+Plymouth&_nkw=vintage+seat+covers+Plymouth&_sacat=140727&_from=R40 Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 Here is a small picture of the seat covers I got oft of e-bay for five dollars not bad! Sorry about the size of the photo but this is the only one I have 1 Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 Here is a better picture-They accurally kind of match the exterior of the car 1 Quote
pflaming Posted June 21, 2013 Report Posted June 21, 2013 Now that I know where to get the seat covers, where do I find what padding goes on and what new/better ideas are there for the padding? I'm not to concerned about who sews my new covers. I have learned how to build an electrical harness and I can't imagine the seat covers would be that difficult, so I will likely sew my own. Quote

alsancle Posted June 21, 2013 Report Posted June 21, 2013 (edited) I put a set of blue vinyl covers on my 49 special deluxe. I was not a fan of the mohair, especially as a 16 year old regular at the drive in. Anyways, They fit so snug that most people thought they were original to the car. At that time 1981 the covers were very cheap although I think I had a professional put them on. Edited June 21, 2013 by alsancle Quote
Barabbas Posted June 21, 2013 Report Posted June 21, 2013 I redid my interior about 5 years ago. The Back seat and door panels are from EZ Boy, they fit well are good quality but a little pricey. The front seats are out of a Ford E350--my back didn't like the old bench seat. Quote
falconvan Posted June 21, 2013 Report Posted June 21, 2013 I heard this place makes nice stuff for old iron. http://www.stockinteriors.com/default.asp?keyword=interior%20car%20carpet Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 22, 2013 Report Posted June 22, 2013 I like my maroon plaid covers, but they are wearing out and will be replaced with something closer to original. Got my covers from a nearby fellow with a bunch of old parts......but he didn't have very many to choose from. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted June 22, 2013 Report Posted June 22, 2013 Bob, that looks a lot like the set I have for mine that are in blue plaid. Quote
