BulldogTom Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 Hey Reg, I notice you have a wing window. I don't. How long are those sheet metal screws you put in the door? I am wondering if they will be too long if I mount those on my truck. Tom Hollister, CA Quote

pflaming Posted June 1, 2013 Author Report Posted June 1, 2013 The current mirrors are too wide in my narrow garage, so I'm going to go small. I'm going to 'fab' me some mirrors to be similar to the small pressed factory ones. I took both pieces to a local fabricator, an acquaintance, he said it was impossible to duplicate without special equip, but if I would plasma or laser cut out the piece, then mark the folds, he would do a basic fold. I would have to grind maybe heat and form but could then get a reasonable facsimile of the original. When this is finished, I'm going to sell my original for $100. The attached pics show what I'm doing. Sometimes when I'm on a major project like the vert, I need a change of pace. Quote
geopcanuk Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 Or how 'bout this...made my own dye and fabricated a rh mirror.PM if interested Quote
Jerry Roberts Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 Is the right hand mirror arm suposed to be longer than the left hand arm ? In regs post (#3) above it sure looks that way . My truck is older and uses different arms , but my right is longer than the left , if my right arm wasn't longer , my window frame would be in the way of the view . Quote
Merle Coggins Posted June 13, 2013 Report Posted June 13, 2013 I often thought that same thing, Jerry. I think it's an optical illusion in that picture though. geopcanuk, what are you figuring on a cost? I might be interested in trying one. Merle Quote

As Merle stated they are a mirror image of each other. It's just an optical contusion Quote
