Where Are You? Why Can't We All Meet This Summer?

According to the "Where are you poll" many of us reside around TN, OH, MI, PA, and IN areas. Why can't we all arrange to meet at a location this year? I'd be very interested in taking a weekend to meet other members of this group. I think there is a Mopar swap meet in Columbus Ohio at some point. I have never been to it but it must be big. Or maybe some other event could be arranged around such as a car show. Some large car show or something. The wife and I are scheduling our vacations now and I would like to do this if it's possible. I know organizing a club event (if you will) like this is a lot of work, but it can be a  rewarding deal. Many things can be done over the computer these days. In short, I'd like to meet members of this forum. When can I get this done?

Ohio has always been very big into old car events. I am hoping to get to ride my 38 Coupe to Ohio

this year. I have a few long time friends in southern Ohio.

Would be great to meet up with forum members also...

I purchased my 37 Coupe in Columbus, Ohio, and my 37 Sedan from Cinn, Ohio...

Supposed to be a "Motorcycles and Mopars" gathering at my place in September this year. 2 bike groups and 2 Mopar groups, but I'm waiting on the bike board that wants to put it together to nail down the dates.

54 acres, mostly shady. 2 acre fishing/swimming pond. Horseshoe pit, picnic area, fire ring is going in if it ever stops spitting snow and cold wind around here. Overhauling both fishing docks this spring. Lots of hotels within 15 miles or less. Old plantation 35-40 miles north east of downtown Memphis. We do have cotton mouth and copperhead pit vipers here though...

I'm in for an Ohio meet! I'm up near Toledo. A meet at a swap meet sounds good! Lets get something figured out! A Columbus swap meet would work well for me (my brother lives there) but I'm up for anything within 4 hrs or so.

Every August around the first weekend the Ontelanee Region of the AACA hosts the August Fest of known as Macungie or Das Awsgst Fest.  This show has been ongoing for over 30+ years. It is a 3 day event.  Sat/Sun are the two biggest day with approx 1300, yes 1300 cars each day.  The site is the community park and has a band shell inwhich they have enternaiment all day. lots of crafts for our ladys alsotwo big circus tents with crafts.   On Saturday you are grouped according to the AACA classification so as an example all 38-39 cars and trucks are inthe same section.  On Sunday is club day and the cars are groupsed by manufacturer so all the Mopar is together in one section and so forth.

They have a good flea market and car corral.  You need to be pre-registerd for this event.  I think it is about 15 for each day.  When each day is over every car owner gets a nice gift that can be used, some years got beach towel usuualy good gifts.

So if there is any interest in Macungie which is located near the PA turnpike exit of the Northeast extension and Intersate 78 near Allentown. I would try to organization a meeting and eveyone can bring their lunch and we can all meet each other.

The show is great there are cars that are ground up resto even straight orignals and in between.  It is a show not a judged event so everyone just has a great tiem looking at cars.  If you have kids the pool is also open allthree days.

If there is interest contact me.  IS there is enought responce we might get this to be an annual event.  I will need you names and email information and state inthe email subject summer get toghether.

I am still working on the details but I plan on being in Van Wert, Ohio May 25th for an anniversary party for a close old friend. I will be open in that area on Sunday the 26th of May. As it is now I plan on driving my P-15 from Tennessee to Akron New York arriving on the 21st, 22nd of May. Heading to Ohio on the 23rd, 24th. Spending a couple of days in the Fort Wayne, Indiana area and arriving back home by June 5-6.

As I mentioned a lot of details to work out but this is the rough first draft schedule. I would like to connect with anyone in this area.

I looked at your Macungie or Das Awsgst Fest. They say no Street rods, street machines, custom/modified. Then below they say only race cars can be offloaded from trailers. Not sure I understand. Who is eligible? My car could be a custom/modified and a few others looking at this have the same changes on their cars. I have 4 wheel Disc brakes and dual carbs. Where is the line?

Don you will be about 30 miles from DCurrent also.

Rich,

I also took a look at Macungie or Das Awsgst Fest.  It sounds really interesting, but they won't allow my P15 there since it's licensed as a Street Rod.  I hope some sort of get-together can be arranged.  I'd like to meet some of the other forum members too.

Don,

Your probably going to drive right by my house if your taking 30 to Van Wert. I could meet you somewhere or you could stop by. The 25th of May is Memorial Day weekend so I'd be free most likely.

For others of interest, I'd be interested in any combination car show and meet any members of this group. I'd like to drive the car to the event. Not no cross country trip, but I'd feel comfortable at 300-400 miles or so. I don't have much faith in the car just yet I guess. Macungie or Das Awsgst Fest sounds interesting!

Don, let me know sooner to the date when you are headed this way. I'll try and make a Sunday trip to meet up with you that weekend with one of our cars.

If someone just picks a time and place to meet I'll try my best to make it depending on what I have going on. I'd personally like to stay within 300 miles or so also because I will not have a lot of free time this summer.
