scotty t Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 (edited) i swiped this picture from e-bay. it is supposed to be an unmolested p15 business coupe. is this a stock dash? all other p15 dashes i've seen have the big chrome speaker grill assembly in the center. i like the simplicity of this one. i'm planning on sending my dash out for woodgraining this winter and since i'm using radio and clock delete plates anyway would like to find this style if i can. thanks scotty t Edited January 4, 2013 by scotty t grammer Quote
Young Ed Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Yes thats the less common deluxe dash. Quote
scotty t Posted January 4, 2013 Author Report Posted January 4, 2013 is the whole dash different or is it just an insert/panel? Quote
Young Ed Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Its an insert. There are also a few less holes as it doesnt have that plymouth badge above the center. Quote
Kudzuking Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Whatever ya'll figure out what it is, I like it, wish mine was like it ! Quote
scotty t Posted January 4, 2013 Author Report Posted January 4, 2013 i guess i'll place a want add, thanks for the info! Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 If you noticed, the Deluxe steering wheel......horn button in center instead of fancier chrome center and horn ring. I think a person can add the chrome center grill of a Spec Deluxe to the lesser dash. Also the Deluxe did not have arm rests and maybe only one sun visor. Deluxe had 9 inch diameter hubcaps while the S Dlx had 10 inch. Otherwise, pretty much the same car. Quote
190bearplace Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 My parts car is a Deluxe. I thought the same as you and was going to simplify things but ended up going chrome with a radio delete. I think I would sell it for a reasonable price but it may need to warm up here before I crawl under the dash to remove it. Offers? Quote
Young Ed Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Its fairly easy to remove. 4 studs with nuts to remove the heater control/ignition panel and another couple screws for the ash tray. FYI that control panel and ash tray are also different. Quote
frankieflathead Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Thought I'd throw my 2¢ in by way of two larger pix of a '48 DeLuxe for future reference that I've had in my files since '08. Also clearly visible here are the correct embossed DeLuxe door panels sans armrests. Quote
John Reddie Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 My dad had a '46 P15 that was like the one pictured. A very plain car; no radio, plain dash and no horn ring. He bought in '48 and ran it until '54. The engine started knocking so he had a factory rebuilt engine installed and drove it until 1961. It was our family car all of those years:). John R Quote
Mark D Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 This looks like that coupe thats on Ebay right now... nice looking ride. i swiped this picture from e-bay. it is supposed to be an unmolested p15 business coupe. is this a stock dash? all other p15 dashes i've seen have the big chrome speaker grill assembly in the center. i like the simplicity of this one. i'm planning on sending my dash out for woodgraining this winter and since i'm using radio and clock delete plates anyway would like to find this style if i can.thanks scotty t Quote
RobertKB Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 I believe that Greg g's coupe has the same dash, steering wheel, and door panels. Quote
greg g Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 (edited) Yep my dash and sterring wheel look the same. My doors have been recovered, but the picture showing the correct door panel is missing its stainless trim in the shape of the 3 pointed stars. I would post a pic but my photobucket is giving me fits. Seems I got it figured out. They now have a share tool which allows you to copy the url lie for pasting. you need to use the other media option to acces the code for posting here, you can't just right click on the pic and copy the url from the properties line.
