hint: PH stands for pilot house. Not really a secret, I've mentioned it several times here...let's see who paid attention besides Ed my waxing loquacious in the garage...

Jeff, count me in on those mid-calif road trips. I'm in Fresno and have not driven those side roads. They would be nice day trips for me. Gonna research those. Leaving beautiful Maine at noon via chicago to Susan Francisco. Then to Oceano on the 4th.

My new axle came out of a 97 Wrangler Cherokee. I do believe it was a Dana but I'm still not savy to a lot of the terms. How would I know? It was an easy exchange.

On our way home from Oceanod, CA on 'Friday' I will have to take one of those routes. Maybe turn north at Atascadero instead of Paso.

I trust all will have a great 4th of July.

Paul;

Thanks. I need to do a swap similar to yours. Trying to figure out the best swap for my 3/4 ton which has a 230 with a fluid drive 4 speed and a 116" wheelbase. Some of the Dana 35 axles have a 3.23 ratio which might work well with this combo. I need to do more research though.

As dry as it has been this year that road between Atascadero and home will surely be parched. Best time of year for that region is early spring right after some rain. Was on it once in early October...100 plus degrees and thought I was in hell.

Maybe we can meet up at Lopez Lake for the BBQ run?

Have a great 4th!

Well count me in if Im able to finish the truck on time, witch of course I'm trying to do. I'm new at this so take it easy on me ok you old timers. I might take my daughter with me if she is up to the trip otherwise I will be coming by myself. Not afraid to get stuck out there by my lonesome. I might be up to the challenge as well that is if i finish on time. I don't have very much to do on the truck, thought I would love to put T-5 in it before the trip but I dont think I can do it in a month. Well we will see with the help of all of you and this forum I'm sure it will turn out ok.
