I didn't see a introduction form so I figured I could just say hi and tell you a little more about myself and my new panel its a 1948 despite the picture is in pretty good shape considering the year, it has a seized engine but all the body parts and trim is there I'm just short a few items a rear spring hanger, a gen/alt and a rad and miscellaneous electrical bits its been bitten my the tin worm but most is cosmetic. it has a floor shift so I'm guessing its a 4 speed will check it better once I pressure wash the interior, a family or two of racoon's have been using it for a potty. this is my second dodge I own a 77 charger briefly many years ago. I am a millwright by trade and been fixing things since I was a kid. I'm not a looking to build a show truck just somewhere between rat rod and a daily driver. I like them mechanically fit and basically one color. I hope to provide pics and up dates as things progress my goal is to have it on the street within 10 weeks ........ oh and to grow a couple more inches....lol

Since you started this thread...its kinda your show. So post your pictures here too and any interesting stuff about your truck. We love pictures on this forum so don't feel you need to have restraint. I mean, look at Hank, he posts all kinds of dumb pictures and we let him stay. Well, might have more to do with his bitchin truck, but non the less, he's still here. :D

Welcome to the "bigs"....

WELCOME: Projects are fun to watch progress, learn to use the search feature of the forum. Buy a case of JB Blaster, a new tube of neosporin, a box of bandaids and if you are over 70 like I am a large tube of Preparation H. :D

Welcome to the forum Karl. Good looking panel truck you've got there! I wish I could find one like it here in Oz to add to my small collection of trucks. Enjoy the forum mate, there's plenty of good minds and information here.

Karl,

You've found the right place to post pictures and get all the information you'll need to help you complete your 48 Panel Truck.

Sometimes someone will create a thread like "Fishing in the High Sierras" You never know what to expect! All of a sudden the thread makes a left turn and you're looking at a guy with a Redtail Hawk on his arm.

It's true occasionally people (not mentioning any names) feel compelled to go OT (off topic) in a specific thread and post pictures that seem to have nothing to do with the original topic it's not a good practice but almost everyone (with the exception of myself) does it on occasion, but it's all in the spirit of fun and sharing.

Let me help and re-direct this thread back "On Topic" about Panel Trucks.

I hope you learn as much and enjoy the fellow Pilothouse owners of P15-D24 as much as I do!

Welcome Karl,

Hank :)

OnTopic:

Karl,

Do you have a picture of the rear fenders out? As yu can see I have a Panel too, but very rough. I'm missing both, but have a pair of truck half rounds that I always felt i could cut to fit.

Hi Karl;

Welcome to the group. I think you will find this forum the most useful tool you have for getting your new truck going. A really great bunch of very helpful guy's.

One word of caution though about off topic postings........whatever you do..... don't mention Kirk Gibson to 48Dodger. Contrary to his very misleading screen name he is definitely not a fan. Thanks to Hank (and one of his off topic photos) I have had to change my appearance and have been banned for life from the Pilothouse BBQ ;)

The trucks don't seem to have as big a following here in Oz as the Ford and Chev trucks do, but interest for Chrysler's appears to be on the increase. The trucks are out there - it's just a matter of chasing them down. I have 4 trucks put away in the shed at present, but I'm always working on locating and obtaining others. I would really love to find a panel truck like yours - I have a later model 'suburban' which is similar. I'll just have to look a bit harder and maybe a panel truck will eventually turn up!

Enjoy your project. I am sure that you will find this forum a great help throughout your panel truck restoration.

lol...sometimes the obvious is the hardest to see, I am missing the fender extension on the drives side the one on the passenger side has been welded and tabbed into place. how difficult are they to find.

Hi and hows it going, Just a bit of an update on the rear fenders while looking for a front fender for my truck I purchased a fender from a ton and a half with the front fender flares, although I can't swear there exactly the same as the rears on the panel, there damn close..... they maybe a little longer but the shape is a very very close match. you should give them a look. I will post a picture later if you wish.
