We arrived home at 6:35 having left Rhiebeck around ten to three. Make wnated to leave a bit after 2 but we spotted him still on the grounds after we took 15 minute walk around swap area. He said that the show staff told hi no one could leave till 4 PM. Said he tried two gates and was turned away.

Since we also were ready for our return trip, I was lookig around for some show staff to ask them by who's authority they were detaining people. Not find any one, I guess they were all busy checking judging sheets, we decided to test the exits ourselves. Foud one near the car corral where the fellowed waved us out. After escaping I walked into the grounds to tell Mark where I had found the exit, and we left the area at about the same time.

This is the first time I have ever run into a situation where show participents were told they couldn't leave the area of their own accord. Certainly was no mention of that policy it any of their prited material. My wife however said she had heard a couple PA announcments regarding it.

had we been refused exit I was ready to call 911 to complain of unlawful detainment, but it did not to come to that.

Despite that hiccup we had a good trip, was good to see Mark and Bob agai, the sun was out and there was quite a few interesting vehicles on the field. I have a few pics I will post a bit later.

Car ran fine, used about 24 gallons of gas for the round trip of 436 total miles. Return trip was 51 MPH.

Sorry I didn't make it. We almost got to Rhinebeck this year...we had a motel reservation and everything. Yesterday my wife woke up with a bad sinus infection so it was doctor visit/antibiotic/stay at home. She is really kicking herself for getting sick because she enjoys that show quite a bit.

She was feeling better today so I went to the Englishtown show myself (we only live about seven miles from it). The swap meet had lots of motorcycle, muscle car, and general merchandise. Rhinebeck is a much better venue for older cars. There was only one flathead-powered Mopar that I saw, a 'complete but beat' 2nd series '49 Chrysler Saratoga with a sign that read '1948--$1500'. My only find was a nearly mint '51-2 Plymouth wheelcover for $3.00. The seller didn't have a clue as to what it was.

Oh well, maybe next year.

As always great to see you all. Already looking forward to the next trip.

Drive out and back was uneventful, car performed to spec both ways. Wracked up 435.2 miles on the plymouth. Left Bolton at 6a, picked up my co-pilot in Palmer Mass at 7:10a, arrived at the fairgrounds at 9:40a, a little later than planned. But Greg saved a space and we got some good conversation in between walking the field.

Got to meet Bobs son, wife and baby as well as Bob's friend Rich W, whose got a beautiful '50? baby blue convertible. Rich kept arriving with arm-loads of parts. I just had no clue how large this venue was, next time I will plan more time to walk the vendors.

Greg and I walked the field and found quite a few beautiful Mopars and even a few other brands worth photographing. Highlight of the day was the '30ish Bugatti that drove in and parked not too far from us. I feel honored we got to inhale the smokey fumes from that car. :D Took quite a few pictures, will post shortly.

Thanks to Greg I was able to make it out before 4pm. After being denied exit from the 2 gates we tried I found a cool spot in the shade to think about my options and shake off the anger that was developing.. I intend to send a note to the organizers of the event with my thoughts on the entrapment that I expirienced. Thankfully the rhinebeck organizer nazi's we encountered at the two other gates didn't find the gate that Greg advised and we where back on the road by 3p.

The day ended too soon, but we had 3.5 hours to drive and I have tons of prep for business trip to Columbus tomorrow. So Rhinebeck and I parted ways at the "fork in the road".

Built on a truck chasis, a beautiful rig. Even saw the "T" prefix stamped into the block.

When I walked by this car, I thought of Rodney. I know his is a '40 and this one was a '41, but I hope he sees it

The '37 Dodge pick up was in the parking lot close to where we parked
