Reg Evans Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 Found this one on ebay. Can't say I've seen one before. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Old-Mint-40s-Dodge-Copy-Custom-Hubcap-Wheel-Center-Hub-Cap-1940s-1950s-Rat-Rod-/180788934285?hash=item2a17dc368d&item=180788934285&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr Quote
Young Ed Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 I'm thinking those are like 37-38s. I've seen one or two around. Quote
Reg Evans Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 The 37 and 38 look like this. Maybe it's a 39 ? Quote
Roadkingcoupe Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Definitely 1939 Dodge car One year only! Difficult to replate, never seen a repop. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Probably one of those aftermarket "copy cap" types, and like "Rrruffles" it had "rrridges". Quote
Desotodav Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Now that's a cool looking hubcap! I've never seen those before, but then I'd never seen these NOS Mopar ones that I found for sale the other day either... We live and learn hey! Desotodav Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 they may certainly be marked by someone with a marker for the 54 but those are not the original 54 factory wire baskets..the very way they attach to the wheel will prove that..now they could well be for another year vehicle but all information show Cello as the original brand. I have a set of originals at home on my 54, these wire baskets were made by Cello, these were offered to a number of car makers by this company..standard feature were interchangeable wire basket among the line up, the basket mount bolted to the wire section with three slip slide adjust bolts to align the valve stem..extra length valve stems or extensions were necessary, the mount was specific to the wheel depth and bolt pattern and the cover center cap featured the crest of the car for that year/model. Below pictures show such a set..others can be seen on line by googling 54 Plymouth and going to images..three of the five lug bolts secured the basket/mount to the weheel and the center cap popped off for lug access Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Definitely 1939 Dodge carOne year only! Difficult to replate, never seen a repop. Yes. it is 1939. Quote
Furylee2 Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 I recognized that cap right away. I’ve got one hanging on the wall in the basement. Got it out of my uncles barn. Seems like I researched it I kind of remember it was 39/40. Took some steel wool to it, then touched it up with some maroon paint. Quote
Mark D Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 Side note - The Plymouth county sign is awesome. Quote
Furylee2 Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Side note - The Plymouth county sign is awesome. Thanks Mark. County Road L, Plymouth County, Iowa. I picked it up at a swap meet west of Omaha for like $20. I thought the L was a good fit. Lee Quote
