I'm a little sad that your trip is over. I looked forward to all your updates and photos. I am glad that you made it home safe and sound though. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.

Thanks to both you guys for sharing your adventure. Sometimes it felt like I was with you guys the way you described everything.:) Glad you made it home safely. If your motor can run that many miles with hardly a problem, none of us should be afraid to take these flatheads anywhere! Bravo guys!!;)

Hello everyone, thanks for all the positive comments — I think being able to share our trip with the Forum crowd helped me appreciate it all the more.

Joe, "what's next" might just be some engine work. But the next big trip will probably be in March 2012. Jerry and I are talking about a run to Inuvik in the Northwest Territories and from there up the Ice Road to Tuktoyaktuk on the Beaufort Sea. This can only be done Dec-Apr when the ice road is solid enough to support traffic. By March there should be enough daylight to make the trip worthwhile. We will come down via eastern Alaska so I can put another decal on the windows.

Shel, I don't know about a brush with greatness, but getting that door lock from you was my first taste of how helpful the Forum Folk can be.

Greg, funny you should say that about our faithful mechanical partner — a couple hours after your post I took these pictures. Seems like the old tub gave us everything it had to get home and after another 7.2 miles, it was game over.

Upon pulling out of a parking lot there arose such a disturbing clatter from within the engine I wouldn't drive it another yard. I'll start another thread soon about my engine problem in hopes you all can help me get it sorted out.

I will say that with most of my cars being much older than the Dodge I am no stranger to the Auto Club, but this is the first time in nearly 20 years of ownership the old Dodge has seen the hook. It's also my first time having a female driver — Tania started towing 25 years ago when she was 18 and loves the job. Her secret to a long career in towing is no kids and being "built like a guy".

I don't recall having posted on this thread but will admit to being an avid follower and have looked forward to the posts detailing your journey. I am a little disappointed to have to wait until March of next year to read another thread on your travels in the Dodge.

If I had known they had never seen a armadilla..I would have put one in their car for them...while a sight to see for the northerners, these pesky animals are both stupid and destructive to have on your property..considered a nusiance and definitely a varmit critter in my book..and to some a delicatesy..am surprised they are still running around in number in middle Georgia..when properly prepared, they are referred to as "Possum on the Half Shell" their first defense or reaction in flight or fight is to jump straight up in the air..they are know to do some extesnive, fan/radiator shroud damage as you pass over them at speed and they instinctively jump...its like hitting a 10 pound boulder

Maybe them armadilla's aint that good a eats
