aero3113 Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 Before pulling my engine for my winter project I wanted to do a compression test. Here is what I got with the plugs removed and engine cold. 1 - 110 2 - 90 3 - 90 4 - 75 5 - 115 6 - 105 What do you think? Quote
Don Coatney Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 This morning I did a compression test on my engine. Results are 115 across the board with the exception of #2 and it is 110. I gave #2 a couple squirts of oil and the reading did not change. I may have a valve (some folks spell this vlv but I dont know why) seeping a bit but my engine runs well and I see no reason to investigate further. Also all plug readings looked good having a nice lite chocolate tint on the insulators. Quote
greg g Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 Shouldn't you be installing garbage disposals or grouting something????? Quote
Don Coatney Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 Shouldn't you be installing garbage disposals or grouting something????? Dahm, busted again;) I am heading down to a car show this afternoon about 40 miles away and I wanted to make sure my vlv's would make it. I will post the results in a new thread if I return safely. Tony_Urwin Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 vlv? Sounds like part of the female anatomy to me. And don't be so ruft on the new guy. I might need some help on my dissy some time. Quote
garbagestate 44 Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 I was talking to an old time forklift mechanic a while back who worked on lots of Chrysler L-6's and he said that wet tests on valve in block arrangments can be misleading since as the piston gets to the top of the stroke, the oil washes into the valve train making it hard to say exactly where the seepage is occuring. aero3113 Posted September 25, 2010 Author Report Posted September 25, 2010 I decided to dissemble my engine for removal early and once it is out I am going to have a engine shop go over it. I know the crank needs to be turned and I would like to have everything miced up. Turns out a friend at work used to own a engine shop and he still keeps in touch with the guy he sold it to. Engine removal thread coming up with pics . Quote
