Mustang6147 Posted August 1, 2010 Report Posted August 1, 2010 I had to really think about this one Rock... I just finished reading your post on the hamb, and thought I was loosin my mind for a minute.... Nice work. Quote
rockable Posted August 1, 2010 Author Report Posted August 1, 2010 Yeah, Andy. I'm pretty much the anti-Chevy guy but I do like Chevy trucks. Go figure. That's my one token Chevy. Maybe I'll do a Packard or a Peugot after this one! Not! Quote
Kirby D34 Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 Looking good Rock. I like the 340 manifolds they work great. Keep us posted. Kirby D34 Quote
claybill Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 on my 41 i had to put in a swivel joint for the steering rod...yours fit..? bill Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 now the 340 small block manifolds are even more rare and very very expensive on the most part..even I have not lucked upon a set of these..but I am always looking... Quote
Kirby D34 Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 I got a set of reproduction 340 manifolds about 4 yrs ago for my 318. They where about the same price that a used set would cost. They dont have any casting numbers are heat riser. I see on their website they are about $900 now. Kirby D34 Quote
rockable Posted August 2, 2010 Author Report Posted August 2, 2010 I was VERY fortunate to snag these off Craigslist. I have an extra passenger side one, if you'd like to buy it. You'd still have to find you a matching driver's side. I also have a driver's side manifold but I think it's for a 318. PM me if you're interested. Claybill, yes it will work without putting a swivel joint in . I can get my fingers between the steering column and the manifold on the side. At the rear, it's going to depend a little on my transmission mount but I'm shooting for about 3/8". That should be safe. Quote

oldodge41 Posted September 5, 2011 Report Posted September 5, 2011 I've been following the build on the HAMB. There is some craftsmanship in this build. Great job! Quote
rockable Posted September 5, 2011 Author Report Posted September 5, 2011 I've been following the build on the HAMB. There is some craftsmanship in this build. Great job! Thanks for the props. This is not my first restoration but it is my first hot rod build. The goal is for it to look basically stock but have more modern running gear and accessories like AC. The interior will be original bench seat and two tone. I'm thinking a burgundy/maroon paint and burgundy/taupe interior. Quote

rockable Posted September 6, 2011 Author Report Posted September 6, 2011 Thanks, Don. You just can't be in a hurry to drive the car. Truth is, I enjoy building them better than driving them. Doing all that work is my stress reliever. I get two days a week in my shop, usually, and that is my most relaxing two days of the week. I really enjoy the metal work and fabrication. The detail work of re-assembly and painting is what tries my patience. Quote
JoelOkie Posted September 6, 2011 Report Posted September 6, 2011 Rock has definately got the skill, equipment, and a very nice place to work on the car. I got to see it, and meet him last year. This is a great car. Joel Quote
