For a long time I've been longing for a 62 300. Perferably white with a red interior. Well there is one on craigslist here. Its a 4dr hardtop where I would have wanted a 2dr but otherwise its right. This one was a CA car until 1991 so at least from the pictures the rockers and 1/4s look great. The interior is bad and the steering wheel needs replacing(I'm assuming the plastic has fallen off the metal core), the brakes are shot, and the trunk floor is bad from either a leaking trunk seal or a bad rear window seal. Its a 383 2bbl. He's asking $1400.00. I think way back someone gave me some pointers of what to watch for on these cars but I did a archive search and couldnt find it. Possibly it was way back on the old forum. So any new pointers?

go for it ED..I have a correct coded 1962 383 4 bbl intake at house you gonna just have to have...I saw one of these sitting somehwere the other day..bit rough about the edges but very workable..think it was parked along the highway as I was going to and from Charleston SC

It doesn't appear to have a full set of craggars. Not sure I like them on a luxury car. Tim why are you hording 62 Chrysler parts?

some of these items were thrown into the back of the truck I bought..they were parting out the Chrysler along side it..the manifold was on the engine, donated to the 41 pickup from the Chrysler..I replaced it with a thermoquad and with the correct cam opened it up to breath deep so to say

You got the carb that goes on that intake? That'd be even better. With todays situation a 2bbl might be the better way to go though

Thanks Niel. From the pictures the taillights appear in good shape. I will have to check the instruments if I go looking. Hard to fix I take it?

Good used lenses are hard to find if they've sitting in the sun. I'm pretty sure no one is reproducing them. Also be sure the little strip of chromed pot metal is there along the tops of the lenses.

The instrument panels can be fixed but the transformer thing is getting a little pricey. Do not let any of this stop you from getting the car you want, anything can be done if it has to be done. I am just nit-picking again.

That stuff helps though. If they are bad its a good negotiation leverage for a lower price.

I have a feeling if I get into it I'll love it and own it a long time :) Of course I thought that about the 55 dodge too and that's long gone

if it needs exterior panels rockers etc etc...do investigate for asource..years ago i know if you needed this..if you did not find NORS you were at the mercy of a fabricator or your own hand at metal shaping...pretty much bet some are available today..do look at the price and availabilty though..could either make it or break it type thing..

If it needs exterior panels I'd probably walk on it. Car was in CA until 91. Supposedly the only rust is the trunk floor from water leakage

massive flat panel trunk that should not be that hard to repair, long ago I did floors, rockers and trunk in a 62 convertible..major job that I would not consider doing again..this was before internet and such and parts could have avaialbe somewhere but as it was, Hemmings was the bible and worthless for this venture at the time...no parts to be had..

Wow Tim a 62 convert. Now that would really be awesome. I was hoping for a 2dr hardtop but a 4dr could be fun too. It only looks different when you aren't driving :)

I did promise myself my next old car was limited to either a convertible or a car with fins. The 62 is pretty much de-fined but I always have loved them.

one of the prettiest cars I remember was a big finned Chrysler roaming the backroads of Virginia..I had stopped at a station and was pumping gas when this distinctive whine caught my attention..turned to see a solid black 61 Chrysler 2 door void of chrome, nice set of wheels and a big blower atop a 392 Hemi sticking out of the hood..that car was truly beautiful inside, out and right down to the sound....has always been an all time favorite of mine..oh yeah, car was black on black

Oh Merle you're killing me! This is what happens when you walk around a car show too much. You know my weaknesses too well! But of course I have no where near 12K for that one. Heck the 1400 for the 62 will be a challenge.

I sure love those 64 valiants. That one would be perfect with a 273 and a red interior. Ed was at my house on Monday. It was fun to see his plymouth and chat.
