BobT-47P15 Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 (edited) Here's what they show in the P15 parts manual as an underhood light. Found this on ebay......pretty similar.......listed as for 88 to 98 Chevy truck for $9.99 opening price, no bids yet. I mounted one similar to it on the firewall, but really should go on the hood brace I guess. Think I bought it at some swap meet years ago, don't know what car it was really for. BobT-47P15 Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 Mike's not the only person to pay someone for working on his car. If I need something done that I'm not very good at doing, I have it done. On the brown P15 coupe, I had a fellow I know install the engine (it didn't have one when I got it), and also had him re-do the brake system. He did it much more efficiently than I can and has the tools and knowledge/experience. I don't have a good place to work here at the house so it's worth the occasional extra cost to have something done. I try to do the smaller things myself. Quote

No argument with that, except that the hood ornament light is more in the "little things" category than the "life-jeopardizing" category. Marty Quote

Frank Elder Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 Mike, PM Frank M. on this subject, his son has made these light kits{hood ornament} in the past and maybe he still has some around. Good Luck. Quote
Troganin Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 Just pick up a 6v lamp and base from radio shack (that is if they still sell stuff like that anymore ). Solder on some cloth wire, witch I'm sure you have some extra from all the stuff you've been doing. Then unscrew the little plate in the ordainment, slide the lamp base tab under, tighten, done! Plymouthy Adams Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 thanks Don C., your method of lighting the hood ornament is both innovative and a refreshing twist to subject at hand... Quote

I have better luck at fry's electronics. they sell everything including all the stuff radioshart has plus all the stuff they use to carry... sorry if I sound too complainty. Quote
