Mikey;

To assist you in your quest I started at the top of this thread and selected questions that you never answered or you did not give a complete answer too. By not responding it is of no help to the folks who may be able to assist. If you do not know then simply say so and someone who can help will hopefully respond. As an example if you do not know if the head you are seeking is for an internal or external by-pass simply say "I dont know". If you do not know the polarity is of a car you once owned say I dont know. In fairness I included a couple of your responses at the bottom of this posting. But these responses you made are not of much help. It is very important that you read and respond to every posting made to a thread you start. Follow the examples set by many forum posters. To continue asking the same questions when good answers have been given with no response is not a good practice.

Both my early 46 engine, and my later 56 engine are internal bypass. The 48 Dodge engine I bought some parts from was an external set up, So when they were made seems to have had little bearing on the whys and wherefors of the bypass system installed. So in your searching do you know which type your block is?? It seems this would be more important to determin than whether there is a P cast upon it.
What is it about the harness that prevents the passage of 12 volts?
How do you intend to get the amplification you desire out of a 6v AM tube radio?
What was your previous six volt car? And what was the battery polarity?
The real question is what significance does the "P" really have?
So.... forgive me for asking... what specific features do you require this head to have? Does it have to have a "P"? Any specific casting number? Internal or external bypass?
Mike, Are you sure an external bypass head with a "P" on it was ever made for the P15? .
want a head at this point prefer nos, as long as it fits a is made for a 218 block, with a p on it.
i dont know i never had a head that was right i dont know what is suppose to look like?

didnt know 6 volt and 12 volt harnes were equal. in the respect that 6 volt wires are thicker, and u can not use 6 volt on 12 volt harness.

not sure if the head i need is extenal or internal, i think 1600 is right for a block built in august of 46. needs to have a p.

Dang, I been gone from the forum for a while, come back, and this issue of the head thing still going on.....I suggested one time the simplest fix ..... if you don't like the letters/numbers on the head you have GRIND THEM OFF!!!!!!!!!!! After a while a guy begins to wonder if this is even a legitimate issue, or just someone trying to make some noise. Joel

i need the p cmon

Here are two motors with "P" heads that are installed in trucks that are in storage. Are either one of these correct for you?

Not good, the date code won't be for a 46. and how come the P's are smaller than the D's on the Dodge heads???

It's silly beyond belief to me...is this about finding and buying a part (I have seen a lot of guys seemingly willing to sell one), or is it about seeing how long a thread you can make. Go to a foundry and have a one cast if it's that's important. Joel

Silly is stating how you can't find the exact head your looking for - then when someone posts pictures of one on a running engine only offering $100 for the head. Silly is saying that you can't find the head your looking for - and yet completely avoiding the question of which coolant bypass is needed (internal or external). Silly is looking for the head with the "correct date code" but still can not tell anyone what that is.

your head isnt worth 2k!

I agree its not worth 2K. I didn't ask for anything near 2K for it either.... I did ask enough to make it worth my time to pull a head off of a perfectly good running engine and be able to replace it. Its not something that I need to put any labor into to make run unless I sell you the head. Its not something I need to sell. And most importantly I'm not the guy attempting to be picky about the specifics of the head casting without being able to give anyone the specifics of what your looking for.

how much are you looking for iddnt you ask me for 2k in your pm? no disrespect to you but its a lot of coin for a cylinder head, i would like to buy it but not at those numbers.

snippet from another thread on this same head subject:

Head casting numbers

I was talking to frank mitchell and he said the the casting numbers on aaugust built motor should be 1300's or 1400's is he right?
