A few words of introduction. Picking up my 1946 p15 Plymouth 2 door sedan this week. Going to be a project to pull my Teardrop camper around the south east. Am retired Army NCO, mechanic, machinist, woodworker and hobbiest of all types. Have been reading here a lot and on the h.a.m.b. Plan on making this look original on the outside but updating brakes and suspension while working on a budget. Should be able to do almost everything myself I hope. Thanks in advance for all help and advice. Alan G.

Couple fellows here pull tear drops. One made a long trip from New Mexico to Florida and points inbetween last winter, and the other's member name is teardrop puller. Neither has bee very active lately but maybe you can coax some comments from them to support your project. Welcome to the forum.

Check out normspeeds profile, and check olddaddys for disc brake adapter. His kit has a lot of users here and is pretty easy for some one of decent mechanical ability.

There was just a thread regarding trailer hitches also if you use the search utility.

Also go in the header bar there is a button that says return to p15 d24, this will take you to the host page for this forum. There is a budle of information there, specs, tech tips, maint suggestions, parts supplier links etc.

Any pictures of the car???

Have been reading here till my eyes are blurred. LOL. A ton of info to be gleaned.

Yup me too....;)

Welcome to the board.

Great bunch of guys, with a wealth of knowledge. Good luck with your project and keep us posted on the evolution of your P15.

My wife REALLY wants to pull an old teardrop. We tent camped on along Highway 50, driving from California to the Maryland Plymouth Show in September. We RV in a 26' Wildwood, but she wants to "downsize" so we can take the car.

I own a '46 2 door sedan. I'll be glad to share my mistakes with you!

Digging through and found every piece of stainless except the two below the doors and a Genuine; original "BUMPER MOUNT TRAILER HITCH". This car was meant for me and my Tear. Only items needed are two dash knobs, shifter knob and drivers side widow regulator assy. Very happy camper here. Pictures to follow. Has every option available at the time I think; heater, dual wipers, clock, 7 button radio and I think the lighted hood ornament. It's an untouched original with no bondo or dents but was repainted sometime in the past.

I parted out a 2dr sedan a couple summers back. Might have what you need. You are missing a few options from your list though-turn signals, fog lights, spot lights, cowl mirrors, dual heaters(dual wipers was standard postwar), lots of others. You do have a good start on them though.

PM the forum admin. There is a link at the bottom of the main page. I completely changed my handle after the group gave me this name. Oh and while you are PMing send me your wish list for parts

Yup Frankie is right. They actual new 49s were delayed so there are p15s build through all of 48 and into 49. My p15 is one of the last 48s built 11-2-48.

So when looking for parts I should look for 48 ? Everything always show models ending in 48. Don't mean to be a pain. Just want to get it right. Never dealt with the old Chrysler products before and this will probably be the last car I do.
