Andydodge Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Just would like to add my thanks regarding this Forum & Site.........I had a visit from Mike Dickson a fellow member who has a 1948 D25 Sedan. Mike and his girlfriend Vicki called into the shop and said hello, we talked mopar for a few minutes and Mike later called into home after i'd finished at the shop and had a good look at the 40 Dodge & 41 Plymouth.........without this Site Mike and I would not have met and I really appreciated his taking the time to call in whilst here on holidays. Again let me thank all the guys involved in this Website and Forum, who go towards making this a real pleasure to look at......thanks, Andy Douglas........ Quote
randroid Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Andy, I'm with you on the positive aspects of the forum. Through it I've been able to meet several members, I've been given more than I've been able to give back, I'm currently learning metal working and know more about painting a car than a layman should know. We're scattered around the world by fate and brought together by a ton-and-a-half of steel. Different philosophies, different governments, different climates, etc, yet for the most part we get along well. Perhaps the leaders of our respective nations should be required to put some shape and year of Mopar back on the road utilizing the resources of this forum, and maybe then they'd see the value of cooperation. Just a thought. -Randy Quote
Andydodge Posted December 30, 2009 Author Report Posted December 30, 2009 Randy, its a funny thing but even after having my dodge since the early 70's I still get a buzz when I meet someone who has another mopar.........I've been in 3 rod clubs now, and 99% of fellow members are into Fords/Chevs, and I've never really met anyone else who had a 40's mopar and its just plain refreshing to be able to "talk" to you guys and in person no less with Mike yesterday about mopars and be able to relate to the same sort of issues, problems, achievements, whatever.........even with some of the not so good issues that have been aired recently, I still find it enjoyable and interesting getting on this site.......again many thanks and all the best for the New Year........regards, Andy Douglas Quote
Aussie D25 Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Hi All, As per Andy's post it was great to have met up with someone who actually understands the mopar gibberish that I spout when talking cars. Furthermore I was so grateful for Andy's hospitality as he not only let me into his house being basically a complete stranger yet showed me around his shed and also took me for a ride in his gorgeous Plymouth. This kind of kinship with car owners is becoming quite rare and I was absolutely blown away with not only his knowledge yet the all round eagerness to explain the bits and pieces on his cars and current projects (the split intake/exhaust on that 23" block was awesome). We talked cars for the best part of *2 HOURS* and probably could have kept going given half the chance. I guess its just great to be able to converse on a subject that we are both so passionate about yet unable to share with other local car owners. Compared to many, at the age of 30 I am very young in this field and am really just scratching the surface with my car and how things tick. Its great to have a resource not only in the same country yet the same state to be able to bounce questions off. Thank you Andy for a great afternoon, we got home safe after a 7 hour drive through terrible rain. Thank you to all that contribute to this site, your awesome. Quote
greg g Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 (edited) Sheesh, you guys are laying it on pretty heavy. All kindsa feelings and junk. I hear there are openings for writers at HallMark, if you care to send the very best...... And before anyone gets their knickers in a knot, I'm kidding OK!!!! I have always enjoyed the collegiality evident on this forum, as it sadly missing from some of the others visited. The Studebaker Truck Farmers Group is similar, perhaps it springs from our affinity for orphans and mongrels. Edited December 31, 2009 by greg g Quote
T120 Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 (edited) ..Not into "Hallmark", although on special occasions I have been known to buy one for my wife - particularly if things haven't been going well (It's been almost 50 years,I gather she will continue to put up with my faults). Some forum members have met and it was brought to my attention - if you're travelling about - nice to meet with those who share your interests and to arrange a visit if possible. Hehehe, Hallmark means I've done something very bad and I am realy making an effort to get back into her good books. I guess that I'm all out of sorts right now with my emotional side as I am preparing to ask my girlfriend of 4 years to marry me on new years eve (tonight). Wish me luck ... Quote
randroid Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Aussie D25, That's great! On New Year's Eve? You better have reservations at a damn fine restaurant because she's evidently a damn fine lady. Congrats, and learn to step lightly. -Randy (Who thinks anybody influenced by guilt trips deserves them.) Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Reminds me of my mother, who could have organized group rates on guilt trips. One of her finest lines: "Do whatever you want to do. You always have." She could never have written cards for Hallmark. HELLmark maybe. Quote
Young Ed Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Stop it I'm getting misty. Anyone know this quote besides me? Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Well, I know it's not "Play Misty For Me." Quote
Don Coatney Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Stop it I'm getting misty.Anyone know this quote besides me? If I told you you would owe me and Payback can be hell:cool: Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Sounds like something Bogart might have said. Not your quote, Don, the "misty" quote. Quote
Young Ed Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Nope Don C knows but he didn't state it outright. FYI I bought the directors edition too and that line is cut out! The ending is totally different too. I'm glad they didn't listen to the director for the theatre release. Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 I'm guessing Don's line is also a quote from the film. Quote
Don Coatney Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 More movie trivia.. In what two movies was the following line used? "What I really want, what is most important to me" Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 maybe you should ask a Porter ! Quote

Wish me luck ... Best of luck but I'm sure you don't need it! I just did this myself back in august. About 4 and a half months to the big day for us. Last week I bought a frame for our wedding picture that says under new management just ask my wife Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 God, Don, where are you guys pulling this stuff from, the ultra advanced movie buff's guide to trivia? Whatever happened to "Frankly my dear," and "Stella!!!" I'm going to guess that it was a David Mamet film. It kind of sounds like him. Quote
