_shel_ny Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 The proper hammer size/technique is displayed. Quote
Brad Lustig Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Uh, isn't that a right-handed hammer? Otherwise, the technique is flawless! Quote
Reg Evans Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Hey.....I remember paying $.25 back in the early 60's at the local fair (The Walnut Festival) for 3 swings at an old car with a sledge hammer. Way more fun than trying to ring the bell or throwing darts at baloons. Quote
PatS.... Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 We did a fund raiser for a little girl while I was in high school and charged a buck for 3 swings on a 1958 DeSoto 2 door hardtop. We made about $1500 bucks and the DeSoto was totaled Quote
Frank Blackstone Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 When he gets to drive all the cookie cutter plug and play rides he will have from which to choose he will regret his distructuive behavior. He would get more girls with that ride. Quote
Normspeed Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Kid's working for Boyd these days. Quote
Brad Lustig Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Our highschool had a similar fund raiser. The funny thing is how many people "lost" swings when they tried to smash the windshield. We used a baseball bat and it took about 10 hits on the windshield before it actually cracked up. Quote
Young Ed Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Somewhere at my parents house is a picture of me at maybe 11 hitting a P23 parts car with a sledge. I eventually broke the sledge when replacing my concrete laundry tub.... Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 The River Cruizers, Hot Rods and Harleys show in Laughlin, Nv. used to have a wack a car every year that you could pay to hit it with a sledge hammer, but they had to quit due to insurance not covering it. Dennis:( Quote
RobertKB Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 I never had the heart to swing a sledge hammer at any car even when I was a kid. Even if I don't like a car I couldn't do it now either even for a good cause. I guess it just goes against the grain for me. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 In reference to Boyd C. above...he is pleading guilty this week to washing automobile title..FRAUD..expected to be a fine and about 160 hours of community service in the bargaining agreement where he will use his name and industry profile to crusade against fraud in the title industry associated with the hobby. California is on the prowl form the fiberglass hot rod industry registering with legit titles from original steel while no component from title vehicle is present in the car registered..this is a push to increase revenue on resistration as these cars hold a higher value than a stock steel car of the period. PatS.... Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 His show was terrible and he's a pompous ass...no loss. I think this makes about 5 times he's been driven out of business. I see a pattern. Quote
Brad Lustig Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 His show was terrible and he's a pompous ass...no loss. I think this makes about 5 times he's been driven out of business. I see a pattern. I want to know the entire story about him and Chip Foose. When Charlie (the painter) left to go work with Foose, everyone was talking about how evil Foose was. I can't imagine Foose being a bad guy, although I have heard stories about him being arrogant at times. Quote
PatS.... Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 Sometimes when you are in business, being tough is sometimes seen as being arrogant. I've never met either one, but just how they treat people and interact with their friends and families are totally different. I could be out to lunch, but Foose is real and Coddington's a phoney. Chip can hang around my garage with a brew anytime. Quote
Brad Lustig Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 That's how I read Foose, too. Seems like a genuinely nice guy, probably just really focused. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 I would like to know the whole story as well, I liked the show( I am a sucker for time deadlines) I also would like for someone to explain to me what the infraction was in regards to titles. chip Foose was his assistant at one time or another. Allan Faust Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 I tray and "collect" everything I can when it comes to building/modifying/diy stuff.... I think I've got just about every show of "trucks" and some of "musclecar"..... since I don't have discovery or speed, I can't get any of the real good ones like AHR, Overhaulin, etc.... I'm trying to collect as many "skinned knuckles" mags and "Auto restorer" mags now..... so many diy and informative articles..... Allan Quote
