Doesn't look so bad to me. I've seen some horrible custom jobs, but this one doesn't make me gag. Dunno how much he wants for it. Probably too much. Had he left the top in place, I would consider a car like that for my wife since it's an automatic.

That car has been offered for sale before......can't recall just when.

I can't recall the details but looks like a two seat coupe originally.

Has had a fair amount of work done to it. Not really so bad looking,

just different.

Don't much like it as its proportions are just wrong. Wheels don't suit it. Dash treatment is horrid and very amateurish. Plus, it's not stock and everyone know I like 'em stock.

Are you saying Texans all have poor taste, or only the ones that left and moved to California? In this day and age that car could have been built in California for an owner in any state. Some people that see a Barrett Jackson Auction thinks that they have the Chip Foose touch and have a car like that built for themselves. If you look at the number of street rod shops that build cars for people it becomes clear that it is strickly a a client driven bussiness and most clients do not know how to work on their own cars nor do they have the desire too so. Once the wow factor for the car show season is over its time to sell this one of a kind special car. On to other things that might interest them at that time.

Reply for 47 Heaven, have you looked at the slide show of the car on their web site? My guess is no, because you would have seen the California plate on the car and probably not have made the Texas remark. I was not offended by the remark for I have heard much worse remarks about Texans in my lifetime, some true and some not. Now were you born in California or moved there later as much of the people of California have that claim to be native Californians?

At first look I liked it, but too many unneeded changes for my taste. Headlights, taillights, side vents, hood scoop, tube grille, lake pipes, tilt wheel, and that dashboard...is that weathered plywood with black paint, or what? I'd like it better if they had maintained more of a period custom roadster look. What are those headlight units? They look so familiar but I can't place them.

I think the headlight units are Buick.

I didn't look at the website pictures before. But.........I still like the overall car. Should get rid of the roll bar though. Not too excited about the tail lights either. I do like tubular grills though.

Norm, I think those headlights are off an early 50's model Buick or Oldsmobile.

Didn't care too much for the wood on the dash, but otherwise OK. Seems to be real proud of the Cobra Tach doesn't he. But.........did you notice the pitting on the base of the tach. You'd think if you went to that much trouble, you'd have that re-plated, and also get the scratches off the chrome under the gauges. Steering wheel and column also needs to be repainted. Seats and door panels look good though. But.......I would have put a console in for the shifter.

That engine compartment is way off though in my opinion. Not only should it be painted to match the car, but.........what's with the blue engine when you have a red car? I realize it's a Ford engine, but you could paint it to match the car at least. Why keep it original colors when the rest of the car is far from original.

I dig the roadster look but; The custom touches are all wrong, the bumpers should be tucked in on a custom, The dash looks terrible (When the orig. looks so nice), A ford smallblock? really?, Tail lights look ackward, I like bench seats personally, Whats with the rollbar?

I do like the grill and buick peepers though. I thought that ALL the "KOOL KUSTOM KARS came from SO_CAL BRO:rolleyes:

I am sure the roll bar is an attempt to put some structure back in the car after fremoving the roof. the windshile frame doesn't look right either.

There was a guy around here who torched the roof of a studebaker 4 door after a tree limb crushed the roof in, He put a bar in from side to side linked to the frame, but he kept his below the top of the front seats. And added some low bars from that bar forward and rearward ( you had to step over them to get in and out) as what was left of the body did not lend enough support to the frame. With out the bars the doors wouldn't open or close because of the sag.

Greg,

Since they made this one a two seat convertible though, they could have hidden any cross supports. Could have put them behind the package shelf area that comes almost all the way up to the back of the front seat. I would think you'd get just as much support that way, plus then it would be hidden.
