michael.warshaw Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 well since these cars are used to lead gasoline, do you need to put lead additive to make them run better. i have been using 93 from my local gas station. Quote
Frank Elder Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 No. They came with the exhaust seats already hardened from the factory. Quote
TodFitch Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 well since these cars are used to lead gasoline, do you need to put lead additive to make them run better.i have been using 93 from my local gas station. Unless you have done something to raise the compression ratio in your engine, 93 Octane is overkill. You should be fine with the lowest octane gas from the cheapest outlet you can find. Don't need lead either as the L-6 engine has hardened exhaust valve seats from the factory. But do look out for additives in modern gas destroying the rubber components in your fuel system (flexible hose, fuel pump diaphragm, etc.). Might as well go a head and replace the hose with new manufacture and rebuild the pump with a kit that has a diaphragm that can withstand modern gas. If you buy NOS hoses, put them in the display case not on your car. If you buy a NOS fuel pump, rebuild it before putting it on your car. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 the higher the octane the slower it burns..low compression needs low octane.. Quote
claybill Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 when will this question be put to rest??!! didnt we just go thru this last week?!! in plymouths, unleaded gas is fine....low octane is best. bill Quote
Frank Elder Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 There is always an new or old member that wants to learn something, if they all used the easy button,{search} we would have little if nothing to discuss. Quote
oldmopar Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 There is always an new or old member that wants to learn something, if they all used the easy button,{search} we would have little if nothing to discuss. There is a lot of basic info in the tech tips of the home page of this site and other good information but as many new members just read the forum they never go there. Maybe a sticky with a link to the menu of the home page would help Quote
greg g Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 Have you read any of the information of the host home page of this forum??? Quote

Tom Skinner Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 Dear Claybill and Frankie, See we are good for something! I like to contribute by adding contacts for parts and such. It is the new guys that need us most. When we think we are to good to contribute helpful conversation, then the Forum will suffer, that is why I think so highly of Don Coatney and all of the Zen Warriors out there, they have the most experience and knowledge that is so well documented. We owe them a debt of gratitude. My hat is off to all that help others - Thank You for helping others! Tom Quote
